I had the Traffic Pro installed yesterday in my '02 Targa.

Hi Everone,

Did anyone in the forum install TrafficPro on a BOSE equip sound system? Where does the antenna go? Can the installation be done as DIY? Where can I get for good deal? How much will it cost me if I have it installed by Porsche dealer? <img src="graemlins/burnout.gif" border="0" alt="[burnout]" />
Just bought and had TrafficPro installed by a dealer. Paid $1545 from Suncoast Porsche in Sarasota, FL (easy to find on web), the best price I could find anywhere. Includes an antenna (imperative) and antenna wire, typically priced separately. Had it installed at a Porsche dealer in NJ - seems that I was the first and another dealer I called had never done one either. 4 hours labor charged (seemed high to me since I have been told that it can be don DIY as instructions are included and should take about 2 hours) but I couldn't argue since I wasn't about to try it myself.
GPS antenna is hidden under alarm sensor flashing light peice above dash board on center of glass area and system in totally compatible with BOSE system and 6 CD changer. I have a 02 996 Cab. I love the system, easy to use and program, and has matching orange color scheme of in stock unit. Only disadvantage, if you consider it one, is lack of large NAV screen even though console does have small map of turns to make with audible instructions and warnings (interrupt radio or CD) as you travel toward destination.
Can pull the CD out once programmed so offers a single CD play slot in addition to your CD changer if you have one. Any questions, let me know.
I have installed several Traffic pro's. They are VERY easy to install unless you have DSP. Which just means you have to install another wire which is a little more difficult. The system is GREAT! Everyone that I know that has it loves it! Four hours of labor is rediculous!! It took me 1 hour the first timne I did it and 30 minutes the other three times!!! <img src="graemlins/beerchug.gif" border="0" alt="[cheers]" />
I had the Traffic Pro installed yesterday in my '02 Targa. When I got there to pick it up, I was "amazed" as to how much of the interior was dissected in order to facilitate the install. Apparently, there is considerably more time/work for the install in a Targa vs. cab/coupe. I have the Adv. Technic w/Bose, FWIW. Was charged 5 hours labor and I was there observing for almost 3 hours--Tech was not dallying around. But this was their first install. Now learning to operate it will be the fun part--so far, quite impressed. Van

It's interesting and frustrating. I asked the tech after his four hours of work and said I knew someone who did it in two hours. His response was it was a very difficult job, complicated, especially since you had enable to the reverse feature, etc. etc. I have an 02 Cab. But maybe I shouldn't be surprised - he could barely figure out how to work the unit which I found to be simple once reviewing the instructions.
The reverse sensor wire gets installed under the drivers seat. VERY easy... routing it through the door sill is silly! I just routed it under the carpet to the center console 10-15 minutes work. The antenna is place under the led light on the dash it justs pops off and the antenna has a magnet on it... the wire from the antenna just drops dpwn behind the Traffic pro and plugs in. The speed sensor MAY be more difficult with the BOSE I don't know but I cant imagine it is. ZThe wire routes to the relay box by the drivers foot well. <img src="graemlins/drink.gif" border="0" alt="[cherrsagai]" /> have one of these while doing it!!!
