I test drove a TT with tip, and I was not too impressed with the acceleration compared to my '02 normally aspirated 996.

If you wanted a car for track use, keeping the Porsche for daily use, I'd consider one.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi all,
I'm thinking of trading up from my '02 996 C2 coupe to a TT (6-speed, of course). I love my regular 996 coupe, but the Turbo has the best looks and charisma. (And I made the mistake of test driving one
)
My question is, has anybody traded up from a 996 to a TT here? Are you happy with that decision? Is the TT good as an everyday car?
I test drove a TT with tip, and I was not too impressed with the acceleration compared to my '02 normally aspirated 996. I'm assuming the 6-speed feels a little faster.
Finally, something like the C5 Z06 is tempting, considering that it has similar performance for less than half the price. Then again, I know how cheap C5 interiors are.
I would appreciate any thoughts you folks might offer.
TIA!
Ray,
I have a 02 Cab and a 01 TT. The TT is a great car but you won't use the speed in town (if you live in traffic like a lot of us). I noticed that you live in Washington State. The 4wd will come in handy in the rain up there. I used to live in Portland and the TT would be great up there. It will make your Coupe feel like a VW after a drive. If you are looking for the ultimate performance I would go for it!
As for the Z06, I have not owned one. Spent some time with them at the track and drove one. If you wanted a car for track use, keeping the Porsche for daily use, I'd consider one. They are very fast at the track and have fully adustable suspension. I know a lot of guys who set them up for the track on Friday and return them to street setup on Monday.
I would not own one as my regular sports car. IMO they ride way too rough and I don't think they are a good looking car. Finally, I bought a Vette a few years back, drove it home, and it would not start the next morning. I took it back to the dealer and never looked back.
Good luck.
Roy
Have a good close look at a C4S RED with a cinnamon leather interior but if you decide on the Corvette look at the 03 anniversary edition interior, BIG improvement!
Like one said above-will you be able to use all that power. It's darn excillarating but after test driving one with my wife-my blood boiled dry and my wife said no. If you got no wife factor-go for it!!! Regards. Mike
Thanks all. I realize that it's a lot of power for the street, but the feeling of the AWD with such forcefull acceleration is very fun. I do plan to drive it all winter (which near Seattle means "in the rain").
