While it does make a difference, it is very small compared to using the 245 on an 8.5" or 9" wheel.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi Viken-I just switched to 285 rears and changed my front rims from 7.5 to 8 but still using 225 front. I used the setting that you recommended when I got the ROWM030 installed(-1 front/-1.2 rear). Do I need to change again to more negative camber or keep it the way it is? I also have the pagid s pads and getting my steel brake lines so while I'm getting that installed mite as well get the camber settings done too. Thanks. Mike

POST 2Original post

Mike, There is no need to change the camber settings after you changed your tires and wheels.

POST 3Original post

Mike, You may want to consider going to 245's in front on 8" wheels. This will help cure any push you might be getting in slow corners. 245/285 seems to be a good combo on the 996. Karl

POST 4Original post

The benefits of the 245 on an 8" wheel are far too small as the added tread spread is somewhat limited. While it does make a difference, it is very small compared to using the 245 on an 8.5" or 9" wheel. Personally, I like the combination of 8.5" and 10" wheels with 245 and 285 tires respectively. However, I would much rather keep the 225 on an 8" front wheel.

POST 5Original post

On the street , the wider front tire /wheel combination will increase unsprung weight, decrease steering feel, wander and follow grooves in the road . Increased drag will slow acceleration a tad , too, so at that point, might as well have a dedicated set of race tires and lighter wheels.
