Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Its just a wire and I have a feeling that the people that installed the motor may have been rough with it in the first place.

I know that the previous owner had the motor/reg replaced about two years around but I think he might have got taken because I didn't see any Porsche part numbers on it either and it looked out of place.

Also, is it worth getting a new one or will used work ok?

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

This is my first post and my first problem with my car that I have had. I bought a 2002 996 cab with 68k miles about a month ago. I have to say it has been a joy to drive. It not overly impressive with speed, from my prospective, use to 1200 hp on the weekend, but it more then makes up for it in other areas. Anyway, I was rolling the windows down this evening after dinner and the drivers window began to get stuck halfway down. I could tell something had gotten off track, so I took it back home and removed the door panel to discover that one of the green pieces that hold the wire tracking system in place had broken causing the wire to come off the pulley. Does anybody know the part number of the wire track system? It looks like it may all be one piece as in the part that connects to the motor itself but not sure. I didn't see any parts numbers on it. I know that the previous owner had the motor/reg replaced about two years around but I think he might have got taken because I didn't see any Porsche part numbers on it either and it looked out of place.
So any help would be great. I live near Houston, Texas and believe there are 3 dealerships here so I may be able to pick up the part locally. Thanks Josh
I took a picture form another person and edited it to show what cable/wire and green price i was talking about.
OK, did some more checking and found that maybe I cant just buy the wire, but the whole regulator? Is this right? Also, is this the right part is that is indeed the case? Also, is it worth getting a new one or will used work ok? Its just a wire and I have a feeling that the people that installed the motor may have been rough with it in the first place.

check with Sunset Porsche (discounts parts) [phone removed] or [phone removed]
There are other places that discount Porsche parts. Get the part number and do a search. The whole regulator is the way to go.
Here is one
