Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Truck scales are basically checking tons and portions thereof, not pounds, but sometimes it the best you can do.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi there and good day!! I'm wondering where would one go to weigh the car. Would a dyno shop be able to meausre weight with the dyno machine. I know at some point I'm going to lighten the car to get a better power to weight ratio so any info would be gladly appreciated. Thanks. Mike
996flt6,
I had my 993 weight when it was aligned and corner balanced in an independent Porsche server. I think you should be able to weight your car at a shop which is able to do alignment and corner balance of Porsche's.
dump scales are usually +/- 5% or more. What I did was to make sure I had a full tank so I knew the weight of the fuel, and I talked the guy into letting me get weighed twice..once right after the other. They were about 40 lbs difference so I split the difference.
yep, truck scales. go at night when there's no trucks
they're usually on all the time, so you just get out and look in the window. one of the local ones the guys turn the display around aat night so you don't even have to get out...
I mite pass on the dumpsite/landfill area but those truck scales mite be worth a try : ). I may also ask Custom alignment since at some point I'm changing rims and new set of tires and just got my Pagid S pads today from Paragon-nice people(Jason) and got 2 free cans of ATE super blue : ). Thanks everyone. Regards. Mike
If you're interested in accuracy, don't use anything except four pad racing scales.
When I had my Boxster S I weighted it on scales at a local truck stop; a full tank of gas and no driver/passenger. It came in at 3060 lbs.
On racing scales (accurate to .025%) the car in the same configuration weighed 3014 lbs.
Call around some of the shops that do race prep. and they will most likely have very accurate scales.
That +/- will get you every time. Truck scales are basically checking tons and portions thereof, not pounds, but sometimes it the best you can do. As I said, go several times and take average.
I have weighed several cars at a local highway truck weigh station. I have been told that these scales weigh to the 'next highest 50 pounds' so if it reads 3450, the vehicle weighs between 3401 and 3450.
FWIW, here are some relative weights for cars at these scales, all with no driver or passenger and about a half a tank of gas.
01 Z06 3150
95 Z28 3350
99 Viper GTS 3450
93 3000GTVR4 3850
I have been working to remove weight from a street legal, but track prepared Z28. If you are also attempting to remove weight, here are some results.
spare tire: 27 pounds
battery: 31.5
(replaced with DynBat @ 13.5 lbs)
Jack: 8.0
Stereo Cd 4.0
Speakers 15.0
Factory seat belts 6.0
Drivers Seat 38.5
(replaced with USRP racing seat @ 25 lbs counting mouting hardware)
Hood 55.0
(replaced with fibre glass hood 25 pounds)
Back seats 10.0 pounds
The roll bar weighed 60 pounds so I have only saved a total of around 90 pounds, but the car does feel faster at the track and I have knocked a second off my previous best time, so maybe it's worth it....
The bottom line is, I think it is difficult to remove a significant amount of weight from your car without gutting it. I still have the console, carpeting, AC, power windows.
