Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Eight weeks ago the C4S tips were pretty scarce, however, I was able to get a set expedited to me through the midwest PCNA parts rep.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Want to order some larger exhaust tipd for a 02 C$S. I saw someone had posted some pictures of their car and noticed that they had gotten double barreled tips. My dealer said they don't make the exhaust tips for the 02 C4S. Also does Porsche sell the chrome plate holders with the chrome caps for the screws. If so does anyone have a part number. Agian, my dealer says they don't make them.

Check with (board sponsor) Gert at Carnewal.com I'm pretty sure he can get them for you.

Here are the various stainless steel optional tips for the Porsche 996 cars: Optional 996 Tips

POST 4Original post

One thing that bugs me with these wider look tips is that they are obviously wider "look". Even on the stock tips with my C4S, you can see the perfect circle of the exhaust pipe in the middle of the oval tip. I presume that with the double barrel, the perfect circle will be bissected by the middle arc.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hey thanks for the excellent help. Palting, what are you saying. You don't like the look. Because I think your saying the current tips on the c4s look cheep. And I agree. But are you also saying they won't look any better with the larger silngle tips and maybe the double barrel tips hides the inner exhaust hole better?

http://boards.rennlist.com/upload/C4SRearTips3.JPG http://boards.rennlist.com/upload/C4SRearTipsJuly2002.JPG I acquired the exhaust tips through the dealer I purchased my car from - Napleton Porsche in suburban Chicago. My recollection was that they cost about $500 for the set, which included the dealer install (easy bolt-on exercise). Originally, the service manager thought the TT sport tips would fit, however, the alignment holes for the securing bolt were just a tad different. Hence, we had to order the C4S-specific tips. Eight weeks ago the C4S tips were pretty scarce, however, I was able to get a set expedited to me through the midwest PCNA parts rep. I have to imagine supply has improved since then.

POST 9Original post

The original Turbo and C4S tips have different part numbers. As such, I would expect that the double barrel versions do too. I have no way to check this at this time and I suggest you be sure that you get the right tip for the right car.

Regards.

That's what I mean. You can still see the main exhaust pipe, and it's obviously smaller diameter. The tips, standard oval, double barrel, whatever, are obviously "dress-up". I don't know if I'm making myself clear. I just have something against "dress up" things when they pertain to performance. Dress up things like logos or bumper plugs or painted center consoles are OK, but the larger exhaust tips are "pretend" larger diameter exhaust pipes. I still like the oval or double barrels better than a bare pipe, I just wish they weren't so obviously "pretend". Maybe I'm just
