Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

10 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Any recommendations/cost estimates? Anyone recently have this work done at Rietzl, Herb Chambers, EPE? My car is an: 03 Carrera 56k VF SC Kit 470ish HP Also, any estimates on brakes/rotors? Thanks so much for your help Ryan

POST 2Original post

You have a supercharged M96 and you cant do these simple repairs yourself? Parts are: IMSB @$100-$200 depending on how much you want to replace. RMS $15-$20 depending on what brand seal. AOS(OVS) @$145

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I dont have a lift (or access to one) to pull a transmission, so no, I cant do them myself. To clarify, I am looking for an estimate from someone who has fairly recently had a MA dealer or indy shop do the work and what they were charged. I can go to pelican or sundoast if I need an idea on parts, but thanks anyway.

Here is a great article we put together regarding Common Engine Problems with your 996 including IMS, AOS and RMS issues. Good read, check it out! Common Engine Problems (M96/97)Tech Article Also, check out our main page for 996 DIY tech content: 996 DIY Section At least this way, if you don't do the work yourself you know what's involved, the parts and processes.

POST 5Original post

My upgraded RMS and LNE IMS was $1600 with parts and labor. For the clutch just add in the part cost as labor will not be much more on it since they are already in there. Also had all 4 rotors and pads replaced over a year ago that was about $1400 with OEM parts

So KK, because the OP has a SC engine he should do all of his own wrenching? I'm having trouble with your thought process. Not everyone on Rennlist is a mechanic, and some owners would rather have someone else spin their wrenches on their Porsche. Just because YOU have a mechanical gift and interest doesn't mean everyone should share YOUR enthusiasm.

POST 8Original post

Ryan, I had EPE replace my clutch a couple of years ago. If I recall the labor and parts total was around $1200-1500. Add in the cost of the IMSB you choose and you should have a good idea. I'd just give Jerry a call and he'll answer you directly with real numbers. Very easy guy to deal with. Shawn

Barn hes depriving himself in the true joy of 996 ownership! These cars are way more fun to work on than actually drive.
