Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hello everyone, I just wanted to say hello and hope to be an active member once I find my first Pcar. I sold the racecar last month (kids you know how it goes) and was looking to get another E46 M3. After looking around I find that 996s are now in my budget! Please forgive me if this is the wrong place to post. I didnt see a general or intro section. Matt

POST 4Original post

What are you looking for in your new purchase? I'm in Charlotte too.

He was looking at an E46 M3, so he may come out ahead unless something major goes wrong.

^Bingo! After I figured what it cost to do the "bullet proofing" to a M3 the 996 with an IMS started to look like a better option. Plus I have already had a M3. Ill be doing 90% of the maintenance myself. After being a track rat for several years I know how fast bills can add up!

I am in Sedgefield which is just south of Dilworth. I am looking for a C2 Coupe with a 6spd manual. High miles are no prob as long as there are maintenance records.

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsc...ew-clutch.html This to me looked like a decent example and looked like a lot of good preventative maintenance was done (IMS, Clutch, later found out RMS as well) so I was pretty interested. I reached out to the owner and he called me back yesterday. I was really taken back as the guy hardly let me talk and kept repeating himself that this is "the best value in 911s right now in the country you won’t find a better deal". (I didn’t even mention price at this point) He then told me there was a lien on the car and knowing better I asked if he was going to pay it off before the sale to make for an easier transaction for all parties. He then lectured me telling me that there may be more of a headache in the buyer paying off the lien but if I didn’t like that I should go to a dealer. Then he explained to me how dealers work and how they make money. I assured him I have bought and sold quite a few cars mainly privately and know how that works. I remained courteous and patient the whole time and thanked him for his time and told him to call me if he decides to pay the lien off before the sale. I guess I am just frustrated with the guy being so difficult when he didn’t need to. Thanks for listening to my rant. Back to the classifieds.

POST 10Original post

It's not a secret that a lot of P-car owners are dicks. Sounds like he was representing us well! Good luck on your search. I lived in Spartanburg, SC and did a lot of driving to and from Charlotte when I first bought my 996. You've got some great roads down there to enjoy this type of car.

POST 11 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks Uber. I plan on waiting and tracking down the right car when it comes. If anyone sees a good priced C2 Coupe feel free to send it my way. Apperciate it.

POST 12Original post

sent you a PM. The dynamics of my commute have changed and driving a low mile 996 in traffic doesnt make much sense anymore. I would keep it, but I already have another collector car and no garage space left.

POST 13 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hey Billy, I sent you a PM back. Great looking car but alittle more then I wanted to spend. Thanks,

POST 14 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Still looking. I know there is a car out there for me.

POST 15Original post

What is your year/price/options range. That will help those of us who like to search.

Have you looked in the Excellence online classifieds?

Must have: C2 Manual No Red or Yellow No Taco Spolier Like to Have: Black interior Full leather interior Maintanence records IMS upgrade - I do have a racing buddy that can install this for me at cost. I am not overly concerned with higher miles if the car has been taken care of. The top of my budget would be alittle over $20K. For example I would pay more for a 03 over a 99.

POST 19Original post

A call to Jake Raby at Flat6 Innovations in Georgia may bear fruit. He occasionally has cars for sale and they've been vetted by Jake.

POST 20 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Excellent idea. I just sent him an email.

What I mean to say was: I would like the car to already have an IMS upgrade. But wont be a deal breaker as I my buddy can install one for cost of parts and several 6packs.

POST 23Original post

Hey Matt, I'm in Charlotte as well. In fact I usually drive thru sedgefield t get to and from work. Would be happy to show you my car so you can get a better feel for options and differences. When I was looking it helped to see as many examples as possible, so I'd know when I found the right one.
