Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

7 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Did a search and there's a ton of discussion about the VC and the oil and how to test to see if the VC works etc. What I didn't find is whether or not the entire fwd system can be removed, making the car a C2 technically. Pondering the possibility of buying and turning a C4 into a 2 for track. I really want to get back but don't want to take the 993. I did however disable the fwd on it by a simple drive block connecting the front torque tube to the tranny and love what it did to the car for track and overall drive experience. Is the same capable on a 996 without electronics issues etc? Can it be a simple task like the 993 or much more involved? TIA

POST 2 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

No one? I know some one must work on their car an knows?

POST 3Original post

The AWD setup is regularly removed on the high-horsepower 996 Turbo builds. I see no reason why the same work cannot be applied to the C4.

POST 4Original post

Same AWD system is used on the C4/C4S as on the Turbo. It literally just bolts out of the car. I prefer the car without it as well.

POST 5Original post

Yes, this can be done. It's not unusual for 996 turbo owners to remove their front differential and viscous coupling to make a "poor man's GT2".

POST 6Original post

I like think of my RWD C4S as a "poorer man's GT2".

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks guys. I knew someone had to chime in.
