Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Do they plan to replace the RMS or let sleeping dogs lie?

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Looking at doing the IMS for a '99. Contacted a local, well respected shop. They quoted 11 hours of labor, clutch kit, and IMS kit. This work out to approx. $2,500+ tax. Does this sound about right?
yeah, if this installer is recommended and did enough of such installs you know of.

This is an easy DIY if you want to do it. You will also find many little parts to replace while your there. Updated case bolts, clutch pivot pin, RMS, etc.
Price sounds about right. If you need a flywheel, that will be another $1000. If you need an Air/oil separator (if it's never been done it should be) that is another $200. Do they plan to replace the RMS or let sleeping dogs lie?
There are great DIY's on the topic here on the 'list to help you become more familiar with the process even though it sounds like a well-respected shop will do the work.

If youve never attempted a fun DIY, you should read about it, then dive in. The IMSB retrofit is a relatively easy DIY and fun! You can address the many, many, nuisance fixes along the way.
