Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I would but I just paid almost $60k for a very clean 97 c2s.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

16 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 2Original post

That sounds way too low... even with 60K it should be in low 50s. Either it's repossesed or someone lost all their money and marbles.

POST 3Original post

Darn if it was only a manual instead of tip. Sounds like a great deal-sounds like the seller need money quickly. Regards. Mike

POST 4Original post

Please dont show me this type of stuff anymore..

POST 5Original post

John, what would trade in be for a car of that type at your dealership?

POST 7Original post

TGH001, SO WHY DON'T YOU BUY IT? this kind of treads just p** me off take your flame somewhere else thanks.

POST 8Original post

Bilstein why do you consider this a flame? Interesting to me anyway.

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I would but I just paid almost $60k for a very clean 97 c2s. for $39k youre right - I should buy it and resell it. :>

POST 10Original post

I don't think the thread is a flame either, just economic fact about the 996 which is depreciating at Lincoln Continental rates For my sake I hope prices keep falling so I will have the option of getting either a 993 or 996 for the same money in two years when the BMW is paid off I wonder however what Porsche thinks about this turn of events. Will they go back to air cooled? Or maybe slash prices $10-$15k like we saw that year with the MB 500SL?

The dollar has rebounded a little from its lows of mid July vs the EURO, but it is still well below its 52 week high. Realistically, the currency fluctuation means that in EURO terms Porsche is selling cars today for 10% less than it did 12 months ago.

POST 12Original post

I see it three ways why TGH is so concerned with market values of the 996. 1. He's concerned of PAG's direction 2. He's glad he got his C2S and laughing his a$$ off 3. He want's to get one knowing it's a better performer then his car 4. IM0 I don't give a hoot about resale values- I drive for the pleasure of it and to this day(4 years and going) still love my darn car : ). Regards. Mike

Mike

I'm with you! I always wonder when people are buing Porsche (or any car I guess) and they ask advice, it seems that most important thing in the car is the future re-sell value? I'd rather think if it looks & drives way I want etc! Same thing with mods, I do mods because I like the way they make my Porsche look better or go faster/better. Not how much I'll lose or get money when (if I ever) I sell it. Come one people!

POST 14Original post

Very surprised the car is selling at this price given that: (1) its got 18" Turbo Twist wheels/rims; and (2) its got a Tip transmission. (3) CarFax checks out (only question is when is the CarFax dated?) Even with this sort of mileage, this car should be selling at around 45K in a private-transaction. Would rerun the CarFax, and question the owner on price. Remember, if its too good to be true... Regards.

Here's another high mileage 996 that looks like it will go cheap. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1846830061&rd=1
