Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I need new wiper blades for my 2000 996, and before I head off to the dealer, I thought I would ask everyone here if you've had any luck with after-market wiper blades. Have you found that they performed better? Can they be found online anywhere? Do they last longer? Any info would be appreciated. My blades start losing their effectiveness after a few months. <img src="graemlins/burnout.gif" border="0" alt="[burnout]" />

POST 2Original post

Never go back to the dealer for "wear" items, ALways use aftermarket. The aftermarket wouldn't sell if it wasn't substantially better than what the dealer provides. Current example for me is the 996 pollen filter, the factory one is head and shoulders better that the one the dealer stocks. (now all I have to do is find out how to get the factory version). I bought the PIAA wipers but Bosch works jut fine.
