Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I'm thinking about lowering my Cab to reduce body roll and improve handling both on and off the track. I try to do a DE every month or so. It' not a DD but is primarily driven on the street. Here is my question. I have practically new Bilstein heavy duties that the PO put on. While I know that coil-over set-up would be the best way to go, not taking into account cost. What are your thoughts going with lowering springs and sway bars with the Bilsteins? Any brand recommendations? H&R? Thanks for the input.

POST 2Original post

I recommend starting with upgraded stabilizer ("sway") bars and bushings. Porsche has two upgrades from stock for the 996--the M030 and the GT3. Installing these is a rather simple DIY job, and does not require you to get a fresh alignment. Adding lowering springs involves a lot more work (but is still DIY if you have the tools and skills) and necessitates an alignment job as well. FWIW, I went with the full M030 RoW suspension package, which includes new struts, springs, sway bars and bushings. Lowers the car a bit but really improves the overall handling of the car. For me (road trips and occasional daily commute, no track) it was the right solution, which employed 100% factory Porsche parts.

You do in the front, not in the rear. In general would suggest springs before sways, but if you're tracking it once a month then do both. I don't know enough about your shocks to be able to suggest springs.
