Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Reason is the left side ram ( driver) has a sliding plastic tab attached to a potentiometer used for tracking position.
Leading evidence: 'Use tracking position' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check )' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I'm halfway through the replacement of the rear window regulators - one failed, and so I decided to pull both sides and ship them off to the place in AZ to be rebuilt.
They always go up and down together, so if one failed, the other can't be far behind.
While I'm waiting for them to come back, I also noticed oil/gunk on the top mechanism hydraulic rams.
I am thinking of doing those now at the same time but since I already loosened the top mechanism to get to the regulators, I don't want to do anything to mess that up.

OK to double dip here and do it all at the same time?
Your hydraulic ram seals are dry and should be replaced. Good timing to remove each ram for rebuilt. I personally prefer the top to be in the park (Down) position before removing the rams. Reason is the left side ram ( driver) has a sliding plastic tab attached to a potentiometer used for tracking position. When top is down, the potentiometer tab is also down by gravity so when reinstalling the rams , the tab is easily realigned with the ram peg. So no need for recalibration.
I am working on replacing rams now.
I tried to service them myself, drilled a hole to remove the snap ring, removed it, but stuck at removing white piece. After fighting it for 2 hours, decided to ship them for repair to Craig in Florida. Cost for two is $400. He claims that unlike most othe places, he actually takes shaft out, cleans everything, and even polishes or applies some compound on the shaft to reduce number of scratches or depth of stratches. I made couple small scratches as I was trying to remove the piece, so hopefully it won't leak. I'll make a how to video afterwards.
In my case the oil was so low that I could move roof only about half an inch.
Thanks, this is helpful. Window regulators are now at the place in AZ where they rebuild them for $199 each with metal parts.
I will try to get the rams off today or tomorrow.
