Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Talking to a detailer they swore that with a certain light cleaning chemical they can actually refloat the clear coat finish on a car. Thereby bring out a mirror glass finshed look with an additional two coats of hard wax. Am I gullible or is this the way to get it perfect?

Part of my personal enjoyment in owning a sportscar is taking care of it myself. Zaino is a tremendous product.

POST 5Original post

I talked with the people at Car Care Specialties web page. They are well respected in the business. After they stopped laughing, they reminded me that clear coat is simply your car's paint, without the pigment. If you could find a solvent that would dissolve it, would you want to?

POST 6Original post

It sounds like an interesting concept, the question is how far from reality is it. Take a large candle, chop up the surface with a knife and imaging that is your cars clear coat all scratched up. Now heat it up with a flame and it remelts smooth. All this is accomplished without any loss of material or change in composition. I'd like to see it demo'd and see some scientific data on it. Regardless, it would definitly be something for the professional, not a DIY kind of deal. It would have to be done in a clean room as not to contaminate the clear coat. Still skeptical.
