Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Leading evidence: 'Check don't street race-people die' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check don't street race-people die' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.
Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Yesterday I witnessed a foolish accident. A 996 Cab raced a Corvette from a stoplight. The Vette had an open lane, the 996 did not. Needless to say the 996 plowed into the back of a mid-eighties 5-series BMW. The 996 never even hit his brakes. (I believe the driver was totally at fault...no situational awareness, recklessness, etc).
Anyway, the 996 absolutely creamed the back of the BMW...the Beemer folded all the way to the back seat.
The 996 had some damage to the front, but it was amazing how solid it was. It was leaking all over the road, and there was some serious crinkling of metal, but overall the car was in good shape.
An ambulance showed up later, and the road was pretty much all closed up.
Anyway, a testament to fine engineering overcoming sheer stupidity.

I did see all the occupants out of their cars walking around a bit later..(sorry should have put that in the post).
The driver of the Cab looked 19 or 20, and it was prob his car. (Heathrow, FL very wealthy, home to Dr J, Shaq's parents, among others).
The driver of the Beemer looked to be a 40'ish person, and was sitting on the front seat door open when I drove by.
Thanks for the description of the accident. Continues to remind me how foolish, dangerous and endagering such activities are.
Even though we take our cars for granted, we should never forget that we have a weapon under our hands, and that it is loaded to kill.
Regards.
Sounds like a case of attempted suicide on the part of the Porsche driver, everyone knows the Corvette can "out-dragster" the Porsche. Not a corvette fan, just simply acknowledging that the Porsche is not purpose designed in that venue.
Agree with all observations - though the beemer probably folded up by design - crumple zone technology, as a way of having the car diffuse the energy of the impact while protecting (relatively) the occupants.
Bad idea to drag on the streets. This is a good reminder to all of us. I've had enough close calls with deer (fortunately no hits) in my area to tone down my own spirited driving and dragging with another car is just asking for trouble (sadly, often involving innocent people). In any event, a late model Vette should beat a 911 off the line (0-60 is not the 911's strong suit - handling and strong torque curve is).
More than a "silly accident".
It has all been said save for one thing ... assuming the driver wasn't drunk or on drugs, where must he have been looking? Obviously he wasn't looking forward else he would never have done it.
I continue to marval at just how bad some drivers can be.

They were all lucky. Anyone remember last years race between a Corvette and a Lamborghini Diablo out in New York? Diablo owner killed, not sure about his wife in the passenger seat and the Vette owner was charged with some type of manslaughter. Not sure of the specific charge though but he was convicted.
Not that I agree.
The Darwin Award (improving the human genome by eliminating yourself from all possibility of future reproduction) should go to the Porsche driver. Gets an A for chioce in car selection, and an F for any reasonable thought process. Hope the innocent victims weren't hurt. AS
