They all (Stongard, X-Pel, Clearbra, Armourfend) use the same 3M film with the same adhesive back.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I'm picking up my '00 C4, 9500 miles, metallic Ocean Blue tomorrow from Isringhausen.
Very excited! I'm considering having Stonguard, or something like it, installed. Can anyone recommend an installer in the Chicago, St. Louis or Indianapolis area?
Thanks, Don. I found the website http://www.stongard.com but they don't seem to list installers, only where you can order the product.
E-mail or call them, they are pretty responsive. They'll put you in touch with a local installer. Make sure you get a certified installer in order to maintain the Stongard warranty.

OK, here's what I've found so far. For Illinois, StonGard gave me this name:
Protech
Contact - Jim Stangohr

You'll also find this person listed as an installer on X-Pel's website for the Chicago area. I called Jim and we talked for awhile. He's been installing the 3M product for 3+ years and does several of the car dealerships up here; Joe Rizza and Napelton to name two. He has done many Porsches for these dealers and individuals. For a Porsche, he prefers to use the X-Pel template as he feels it gives a better coverage. They all (Stongard, X-Pel, Clearbra, Armourfend) use the same 3M film with the same adhesive back. Just different thicknesses and different templates (the shape the pieces are cut). He charges $275 labor for the whole front end including bumper, plus the cost of the film. He says he has had no problems removing the film; no damage to the paint.
That's all I have so far. I'm going to setup an appointment in the next few weeks and give him a try.
Small world, I just had Jim put the stone guard on my new C4S, Lapis Blue buggy and he did a great job. I never had this done on prior cars and have struggled with the chips up front for the last 20 years. I think this is a great solution. Looks great and jim is the man for the job.
Thanks, Kerry. I purchased my car C4S through Napleton, so I will work through them and relay any intelligence to the group.
Thanks again for the starting point.
