Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Does anyone know if the door locks and windows require a working alarm module to operate? Has anyone disconnected the alarm brain to test this? Long story short, floor got a little wet and submersed the alarm module in some water so now I have a big paperweight until I can get it sorted. Most likely I'll need a new alarm module but I need to find out the logistics of having it programmed to my key since my car is stuck in the drive way. TIA

POST 2Original post

You can lock/unlock drivers door via key in drivers door. Central locking, windows etc go through alarm box. I just had a new alarm box programmed to my car....had to have new key fob as well ( unless you have the 'barcode' for your current key. Try drying out the box first?? Its easy to open up

Thanks for the info. I was already hoping for the best scenario and had already tried drying it out with no success. My central locking, windows, trunk and engine lid do not currently function as well as my starter.

POST 4Original post

With so many sub systems not working it would suggest that there is a common issue ie Ground or power.( I traced the circuit some time ago, recall these systems are separate circuitry). Checked the 15amp fuse? Are there any scorch marks on board? Changing alarm box is $$ ( just did it!) you need a new box and Programming by Porsche. Will will also need new remote fob ( unless you have bar code for old one)

The first thing I did was check all fuses including the fuse on the alarm module. I took apart the alarm module to clean, dry, and inspect it for any burnt traces and other issues. Nothing found. There is a possibility that water could've gotten into one of the onboard relays but at that point there could also be other issues. I'm afraid I might have to get a new alarm module and hope they can program it to my existing key.
