Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.
Discussions that contain suggestions

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Suggestion
No offense intended but if you know what your doing, you have a "lift", and work on other cars, why the h@#$ are you messing around with a IMSB-G install when you could replace the bearing for the same price?

These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I bought my IMSG over the winter and it was too cold out to think about installing it when it arrived. Then I got sick...long story short, I didn't get around to opening the package and checking out the details until a few days ago. So this evening as I was preparing to install it, I noticed a crack in the black material that seals the magnetic detector. Is this going to be a problem? I'm afraid since I didn't mail the warranty card back right away I might be stuck with this.
I doubt the crack is very deep into the potting material. Put a drop of oil on the crack and leave it overnight. I doubt it will be any less in the morning.
I've left a message on Raby's tech support voice mail and posted a message at his forum but I haven't heard anything yet. What sucks is that the 996 is drained of oil and sitting on the lift which is keeping me from doing work my other car needs.
No offense intended but if you know what your doing, you have a "lift", and work on other cars, why the h@#$ are you messing around with a IMSB-G install when you could replace the bearing for the same price? IMHO replace the bearing and sell the IMSB-G.
Have you emailed Flat 6 Innovations? I'm sitting here with Jake working on R&D and he doesn't have any messages or emails regarding this defect.if you email or call on Monday, they will get a new drain plug out for you.
I'm not a mechanic. I got the lift for brakes, exhaust, shocks, things like that. When it comes to tearing into the engine deeper than a water pump, I leave that to the pros.
This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
