Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

1 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Leading evidence: 'Repair pics' (1 discussions report resolution; 0 report an unsuccessful attempt). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Repair pics' (1 discussions). For that action, 1 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Last weekend I put in a new Kenwood double din head unit. I didn't want to wrestle with the ipod connection cable every time I got in the car and I assumed I could find some sort of slot dock that I could mount in the dash. After allot of online searches I didn't see anything that would give me what I had in mind. I ended up ordering a sheet of ABS and iphone extender and built this slot dock. So far its working well. My original plan was to bury it behind batwing, but I found there was not enough room (too bad it was after cutting a nice new slot in my batwing).
Good idea! I have something very similar in my 996. I'm very happy with it, although mine is set up for my iPhone 4S. I need to have it modified for a new iPhone 5 as soon as I get one.
Dennis I came across your dock when I was researching, "Highline" (or something like that) did it right? That's a brilliant set up. I spent hours searching and it seems like that was the only car that had anything resembling an indash slot dock -which was shocking. Fusion marine makes something similar for boats, but it's too large for a car and it has proprietary connections.
I sent Highline an email asking about your dock and they never replied. I have no idea how they fit it in that way - my Euro Motorspeed enclosure doesn't provide for any space below the head unit. I thought I could slip it into the batwing but not with the 1/4" ABS - it's just way too big.
What's the inside of your dock made of? I had assumed some very thin ABS, but after my batwing debacle, my best guess would be thin sheet metal. In the fall (when I have more time) I may try fabricating something from sheet metal to fit in the batwing - I still think it's possible just not with ABS.
I saw that it has a push spring release, I'm at loss in figuring out that piece of it too.
You're right, it was Highline Car Audio in Denver that did my installation. Unfortunately, they have gone out of business. They are still providing service to existing customers (or so I'm told) and I'm hopeful that they can do my upgrade to the iPhone 5 configuration.
I believe the inside of the dock is made of very thin plastic, as you suggested. It is lined with a felt-like material to prevent scratches to the iPhone, and it is spring loaded. Overall, I'm quite pleased with the installation.
