Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

we've talked about the best ways to run wires and shielding, but unfortunately it will be hard to know how successful we've been until all the stuff is in.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

8 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

In light of my current project I won't be hearing the beautiful tune of my engine. The car will be much quieter with an electric engine and I'll probably notice a more road noise than before. Any suggestions as to the best places to sound-dampen to reduce road noise inside the cabin? Also, the foam glued to the inside of the engine bay has deteriorated in my car, and am trying to decide how important that might be to replace. It was most likely there to quiet the engine, but could be for road noise as well. Any shared experience or feedback is appreciated!

POST 3Original post

Dynamatt, under carpets, door panels... Etc. Or a cd with proper exhaust sounds!

POST 4Original post

You can buy an engine noise generator that plugs into the cigarette lighter and transmits an FM signal. Supposed to pick up the RPM through the charging system on a normal car. Can produce any engine noise, from a top fuel dragster to an F1.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Love all the noise generator ideas... but I was thinking about reducing tire/road noise... of course, I'm in a convertible (though do have the hard top) so maybe anything I do is for naught. I do plan on trying to come up with a fun way to integrate true Porsche sound... anyone have a nice audio soundtrack from their car?

This could get fun actually. Put in one of those g-scale train sound kits and wire it to an old cb pa! Or you could do a jetsons space car sound. The possibilities are endless!

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Yeah, no doubt... as part of the conversion process, a nice stereo is requisite! The biggest trick will be to ensure there's no electrical noise in the system... we've talked about the best ways to run wires and shielding, but unfortunately it will be hard to know how successful we've been until all the stuff is in.
