Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Does anyone hear know of this car? I also would like a recommended place for PPI for this car. It is near Greensboro, NC. The owners said they would have no problems taking it for an inspection. http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.js...standard=false

Do not know car but it is a good looking car. Like the color very much! Best of luck. Sincerely, Macster.

POST 3Original post

nice car for the money.....IMO (if you like the exterior color too)

POST 4Original post

Wow, can't believe how little it costs to own a Porsche 911. C'mon...pull the trigger!

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I have my eye on a few. I will probably pull the trigger soon.

POST 6Original post

My brother has an indy shop in Thomasville (20 or so mins from Greensboro) called Speed Werks - [phone removed]. I'm sure they could do it. They deal primarily with Porsches. Matt

POST 7Original post

Speed werks is great they did my 944 head! I like the color, the wheels, and the tri-spoke wheel.

POST 8Original post

Don't know the car but can rec'd a great PPI place for you. My race shop is in Greensboro. It's called 3G Motorsports. LINK Give Greg (owner) a call and tell him Dell sent you......he'll take good care of you. Greg is the ONLY person I trust to work on my P-cars for both the street and track.

POST 9Original post

Good looking car, I like the color combo a lot. It also has litronics, which is a very nice option to have, as is the full leather dash, but the latter seems like not such a great thing in this case, as it's pulling apart in the center... Also, it appears that the center of the front bumper was touched up with black paint around the center radiator opening (though the panel alignment/color match looks fine from the pictures, so they probably just touched the center part ). Overall I'd say it looks like a good deal pending a decent PPI.

POST 10 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Does anyone know if the shrinking leather dash is common and is there a fix?

POST 11Original post

My full leather dash still looks great...I've never heard of it before. It's usually vinyl that shrinks (like in 944s)

POST 12Original post

Nice color Sounds like you have lots of good suggestions for a PPI. I will just add that the Porsche dealer in Greensboro, Foreign Cars Italia (Europa) is a very well regarded operation.

POST 13 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Well I had Speed Werks do the PPI and it turned out pretty well. I sent a deposit and will be making the trip to pick it up on Jan 22nd. I can't wait. I just hope there isn't a major snowstorm on the east coast on the 22nd.

POST 15Original post

Congrats and I hope the purchase goes well. That looks like a nice car. From the pics I see that it has upgraded 3 spoke wheel (4 spoke was standard in 01), trip computer (control stalk on the lower left), hifi sound system (rip out the cassette storage unit and put in a cubby - $20 or so from the dealer), and no seat heaters. Enjoy, Barry

POST 16 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I too am curious what options it really has. Speed Werks said it is a well optioned car but all I really was after was a C2 6 spd coupe that was mechanically sound (I did have one color requirement-It couldn't be Guards Red). I really hoped to get one with the 3 spoke wheel and I'm glad that this one has it. So people on the forum have told me more of what this car has than the owners have told me. Let me start the list Litronics 3 spoke wheel HiFi Sound Trip Computer No seat heaters ...I can't wait till next Friday when I see for myself!

POST 17Original post

Is the option code sticker not on the underside of the hood?

POST 18 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I asked the owner to give me the options code list from the underside of the hood but they haven't yet. I looked up pricing for the options I knew it had and the agreed price was very fair. As I said, the options aren't a big deal to me. Other options that I don't yet know about will just be a plus.

Yes I was thinking that with the cassette storage the car is certainly dated! Nice car however, full leather a real bonus.

POST 20 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Does this radio have a MP3 plug? Does it have RCA jacks that I can connect a MP3 adapter? If not, I might want to keep the cassette to use it as my MP3 adapter.

POST 21Original post

Quotes source post: 7225389

Nope. There are some aftermarket hard wired iPod possibilities. The cassette storage boxes seem to have been included when the car has a CD changer. Without a CD changer the stereo would have a single CD slot instead of a cassette. 1999-2003 is just that interim period where the cassette was having its last gasp, CD was the norm, and the iPod was brand new. I'm still debating what to do with mine. I hate to wire in an iPod solution when what I really want is a full NAV/bluetooth/MP3 compatible system. But selling this to the wife just after buying the car is not on the table at this time ;-) I am replacing my cassette storage boxes with another OEM shelf unit. That might be nice for you as you have the stereo control unit in addition to the stereo and so no console storage at all. Porsche did not get a true media jack until last year!

As mentioned, the radio does not have an MP3 plug. Note that the cassette storage box is different than the cassette player. The face on the radio will flip down, allowing you to load a cassette tape. The cassette storage unit allows you to store 4 (or is it 6, I don't remember) tapes inside. The car probably has a 6 disc CD changer in the front storage compartment. Anyway, the cassette storage is mostly useless. Since the car has very little storage, I removed it (just grab and pull) and replaced it with a cubby. The dealers sell the cubby that just snaps in. I bought mine on line from Sunset Porsche in FL (I think) and it was pretty cheap. Good luck, Barry
