If I was changing cars I'd change it up noticably, Turbo, GT3(yes I know not even near 37K) Maybe a 993S of some sort.

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I've been looking at some 996 TTs, but really prefer rwd only.
One of the local indy dealers has this 40th with 67k miles.
My '99 has the same miles, but this looks very well cared for, although I think it has lost some of the 40th goodies (like the luggage).
What I like is the X51 motor (really much more noticeable torque starting out), the included upgrades, body pieces, sport seats, silver console and seat backs, etc. As we know it also has the sport suspension.
So as I consider going TT, maybe this 40th would make sense for me, kind of splits the difference of power, price, newer 911.
They're asking $36k, it's on consignment.

The inside of that place looks a lot like the old Auto Haus West, infact, it is the same building. If it is the same people, I wouldn't trust them as far as you can throw a cayenne.
I bought 1 car from them, engine blew first day, brought it back, bought another one, engine lasted 5 months.
Yeah, Auto Sport moved into the building that Auto Haus formerly occupied.
I actually got my '99 from Auto Haus West, and it's been fine, luck of the draw maybe.
For the mileage it seems kind of pricey. I've seen 40ths with 1/2 the mileage sell for just a few thousand more. Some were CPO'd and at Porsche dealers.
looks really nice, i like that color combination too---seal gray/black, if they can give the car a 3 year warranty with that price, that would be a good deal IMO.
Personally, I wouldn't. My opinion, not worth much these days (maybe worth a half a cheese sandwich at best).
If I was changing cars I'd change it up noticably, Turbo, GT3(yes I know not even near 37K) Maybe a 993S of some sort. Not just a facelift with some mods....
I'm guessing 15K difference in price tags from your car to this one and is there that much value in that upgrade? You can put a whole lot of sweet mods on the 99 to get it looking great and making it fun-er. (Mrk1 aero kit, Pss10's,spacers, sways.~7K.)
But to reiterate, half a cheese sandwich's worth of opinion.
A price reference for you: 2004 40th just sold near me for $46k at Porsche dealer. Mileage was in the teens, CPO, one owner, ultra clean inside and out. It was beautiful and I too like the X51 motor. In fact, I liked it better than the 2005 997 motor for sure. However I ended up with a CPO 2002 Targa with 14k miles for $11k less than that 40th. The 40th wasn't worth $11k more than the 3.6 motor in my opinion.
Ed, you're crackin' me up!
I might go look at it again, but it is hard to justify the difference without going full TT.
The seller is including a 1 year warranty.
Nice looker and driver, but I'll probably hold off....
gentleman correct me if im wrong i keep seeing posts with the word 996tt,i think they mean 996t?,as far as i know porsche doesnt make a twin turbo......thanks
There is a 6GT3 in the classifieds with 48K miles asking $45K as a reference. It comes with stock and RS wing. The RS wing is worth around $2-3K.
