Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Apparantly the dealer installed the flares and rear spoiler...at least at the time I ordered which was July 01 for Sept 01 build.

The True flow is much like the Fabspeed but the Hi-Flow uses the cone filter element(they have piscs of it).

I'm butting in on this but just want to know if the airetek intake can use normal filter (no oil) and work just as well.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I am interested in changing the intake system on my 996. Does anyone have an input on the brand which will let the car breath better and NOT rob any power? I have heard that AIRTEK is a good brand. Any suggestions? Thanks.
I had the Fabspeed intake at one time and now switched over to the Airetek hi flow intake. The Fabspeed is nice that it retains the stock airbox versus airetek you would need to remove the airbox cover. All serve the same purpose is putting more air(colder) to the throttle body. The Fabspeed intake is noticeable when it reaches 4200-4500 rpm(trq comfort zone) and you notice a nice sound and better umph at that rpm range. The airetek IMO seems to be alot more balanced thruout the powerband and cone filter designs always offers better breathing versus the closed circuit ones. With Fabspeeds you'll may want to switch to a BMC F1 air filter or keep it stock but with Airetek no need for one other then the cone filter element. The Airetek also looks pretty cool when you open it up and the sound is much better then the Fabspeeds. But make sure if you get one be careful with the MAF sensor-any contaminates like the oil in the filter(make sure filter is not too oiled up by blotting it with paper towel) or the check engine lite will trigger and if MAF sensor is contaminated you'll need to replace it which runs in the $400 range. Any other questions just email me or post it here. Regards. Mike

Also, does Airetek have a website?
Thanks
Don check out www.evoms.com- they can help you with this with Airetek. They have two types one is True Flow and other is Hi-Flow. The True flow is much like the Fabspeed but the Hi-Flow uses the cone filter element(they have piscs of it). The Hi flow needs no other filter other then the cone filter since stock air cover is no longer used. I'm using the Hi-flow. Looks nice/sounds great and a better improvement over the Fabspeed or the True flow. Cone filters seem to have better airflow then the closed airbox units. Regards. Mike
Don I been thinking about adding an aerokit myself but love your rear wing compared to the GT3 wing. Been thinking about using GT3 front spoiler and side skirts and the wing you have-I've seen it on person and the wing looks great. How much did you pay for the wing itself? Mike
Mike, this was ordered as an "aerokit package" XAE, which included flared rockers. Total cost including installation was 6K...and that included removal of the stock movable grille and replacing it with lightweight plastic piece as well as dealer installation. Apparantly the dealer installed the flares and rear spoiler...at least at the time I ordered which was July 01 for Sept 01 build. Hope this helps. It may be part of Tequipment now, I don't know. eBay might have a factory spoiler as well. It's a nice one, but obviously pretty expensive.
