Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.

0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.

Suggestion

You can either let it run for 300 miles or so(smell will go away by then too) or disconnect the battery and computer will reset but make sure you got the radio code in hand or it won't turn on.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Finally got the exhaust, headers and airbox in. Any installation tips I can tell my mechanic? Was it a pretty smooth install? Any trick so I don't have the O2 warning sensor come on? Thanks guys.

POST 2Original post

The most difficult part with the exhaust is centering the tips so prior to tightening the whole assembly on line tips before tightening. If you had ordered the air filter as well make sure there's not too much excess oil which can contaminate the MAF sensor(blot out with cloth- there's no need to reoil as it should be oiled already but blotting is a safe thing to do. Things you will notice after install of exhaust(I don't know about headers since I did not do that) is you will see irregularities in the sound thruout the rpm range like it's missing or something which will smooth out over several hundred miles and there will be a funny smell as well which will go away. It should take about 2-3 hrs to install. Regards. Mike

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Got my headers, exhaust, and airbox installed. You were right 996FLT6, that sure is a nasty smell that comes out. About how long does the computer take to relearn things?

POST 4Original post

You can either let it run for 300 miles or so(smell will go away by then too) or disconnect the battery and computer will reset but make sure you got the radio code in hand or it won't turn on. How do you like the sound so far? I think it sounds better after it's broken in and will match rpm's once broken in. Regards. Mike
