Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi there, I have a few problems with my month old C4S. There is what I thought an oil leak at the rear right quarter of the car. It turns out its a coolant leak. What are the consequences of a leak like this? Its not extreme amounts but i am concerned and don't have any mechanical knowledge to know if it effects the engine long term. Any ideas anyone. Thx Rich Ps its already at the dealers being looked at, I just want reasuurance that I have not got a lemon engine.

POST 2Original post

Well. it could be several items based on prior events with models other than the C4S. There is the issue with coolant reservoirs on older 996's. I know of a C2 cab owner who had his engine replaced for what seemed to be a minor coolant leak. Or, it could be as simple as an overfilled coolant reservoir or a loose fitting. Hard to tell. Sorry I can't rassure you. Just wait for the verdict from the dealer.

POST 3Original post

My 2002 seems to drip one drop of oil from the side of the engine every time I park it. I have a piece of cardboard on the garage floor to monitor the "leak" and it is so minor that I've decided not to fool with it. It appears to be coming from seam between the cam housing and the main engine case. If I need some other warranty work done, I will have them fix it, but right now it isn't worth the trouble.

POST 4Original post

Coolant leak? You must be mistaken, 911s are air-cooled, they don't have coolant. Rip van Winkle <img src="graemlins/icon107.gif" border="0" alt="[icon107]" />

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks for the replies, it turned out to be a faulty hose clip that was allowing coolant to come out. Replaced and pressure tested and its ok now. Rich
