I've got about 11K on these tires so I think I'll replace all 4 now with P-zero's.

returning from Burlington, VT to NH on I-89. Gorgeous scenery on a crappy, bumpy highway. Anyways, I was doing about 70 mph and I hit about a 100 yards of shallow frost heaves. The bumps were real close together and you could really feel them through the steering column. All of a sudden the car swerved right and I guess PSM took over because I got the car straightened out quickly without too much effort. I figured I blew a tire and when I pulled over, I was correct. Passenger side front tire had about a 3-4 inch gash in the side wall. So I threw on the spare and needless to say the rest of the ride was real boring! So, I was riding on the factory Conti's and I did inflate the tires to the recommended 36f/44r just to try out this pressure for a long ride. I think I was 32f/40r before. So you think it was just a coincidence that the tire just ruptured or is 36 psi too high in the front? I've got about 11K on these tires so I think I'll replace all 4 now with P-zero's.

My guess is that the tire pressure had little or nothing to do with it. You probably hit some kind of sharp object hidden in the bumps. Cheers, Ken

ckl93, You will be happy with the P-Zero's. This is my first set and I am quite happy. I have owned BF Goodrich, Michelin, and many sets of Dunlop's. Dunlop is still my favorite, but the P-Zero's are very good. I work at Porsche dealer and drive the new cars daily. The Conti's, Michelin, and P-Zeros are factory issue and I have driven them all. I puchased P-Zeros....

I had the P-Zeros as OEM, I'll concur that you will probably be very happy with them. If you are feeling a bit more risky, try the BFG KDs. I know a few people running them (not myself) and they have had rave reviews. They do not last as long as the PZs, but the grip is supposedly amazing. I don't oput many miles on, so I run Kuhmo V700's all the time.
