Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

After months of speculation I order my car today from Champion Porsche, Pompano Beach, Florida. 2003 911 Porsche Carrera 4S AWD (Guards Red w/ Black leather) Driver's Lumbar Aluminum Brake/Shifter Wheel Center Set Floor Mats Headrests w/Porsche Crest I studied all the colors carefully and liked almost all of them, but in the end Guards Red was the color which gave me the most comfortable feeling. Looking at a September delivery.

POST 2Original post

Congratulations! And a question or two... Champion is a great place - I always stop in for eye candy when I'm in south FL. You are in Jax, why not order from Brumos? Just curious. Also, with the Florida heat, did you think about ligher colored leather (SB)? Congratulations again, I think I'm not far behind you!

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I received a fair discount from Champion. Brumos was a little stubborn and wanted MSRP. So, they lost a sale. I currently have a Corvette with red leather seats. A few months after getting the car I noticed some dark stains on the back of the driver's seat. I finally concluded it came from a weaved leather belt that I had began wearing about the time the stains appeared. Eventually the seat was replaced under warranty, but with a lot of pain and suffering on my part. So, I am a little leary of light colored interiors. I am not worried about the black at all.

POST 4Original post

What are your plans for the Corvette? Cool car you are getting

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

My vette is a 2001 Convertible Black/Silver w/red interior. I will always love American Muscle, so I keeping the vette as well. What I really need is a bigger garage.

POST 6Original post

Congrats! Do litronics and Bose (Adv. Technique Package) come standard on the C4S? If not, I would HIGHLY recommend getting them. I have a '02 C2, and it was an additional option. Unfortunately, I am not all that familiar w/ what is included on a C4S.

POST 7Original post

Congratulations....I guess you have already began the countdown. Did they lock in the price even it turns out to be MY 03?

POST 8Original post

Do the auto-dimming mirrors and trip computer come standard on the C4S?? If not, they are not expensive and are good options.

POST 9Original post

Nice move. If I had your car I'd add... P04 Advanced Technic: Bose and Litronic Painted red rear center console Red seat belts You car comes with the brake calipers painted red and it should look great!

POST 10 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

The Technique Package is not standard as far as I know. The C4S comes heavily loaded, however. I specifically ordered a MY 2003. So, the price is pending and has not yet been announced. I have determined that MY price increases are usually modest. In my opinion the seat belts are just not worth $535. The painted rear console seemed a little tacky to me; maybe because I have never seen one. Everyone would probably do it a little differently. I wanted to keep it around $90K. Porsche changes the car a little each year, so who really knows what is standard for 2003?

POST 11Original post

Great choice in ext/int color-you'll be extremely happy on your decision since living in Florida-for some reason either red/yellow are way cool nite/day. You'll be happy with black interior-easy to maintain and doesn't look soiled after a number of years. You may try to opt for the litronic set up and sport exhaust(or aftermarket) but other then that that's all you need from the factory-just keep it simple. Bose would be nice but I can't tell you how many times I turn it off just to hear the car : ). Congrats and let us know how you like it and please posts pics : ). Mike

POST 12Original post

Congratulations on your decision! I am definitely partial to your choice. Don't know how the 06 is to drive, but the C4S is fun at the sub-6 or 7/10ths that we all have to drive at most of the time. My '02 C4S is GR, GR belts, small alum. package, alum. shifter/handbrake (added from Carnewal), black soft look leather, but without lumbar support (I find that the stock seats give me very good lumbar and lateral support), advanced technics option, Porsche wheel centers, seat backs with P-crests, Porsche sport exhaust & mats. I did not order the car, but would have gotten sluminum guage faces, which I will probably add when Carnewal gets the correct ones for the '02. Oh yes, added the clear side markers. Also replaced the cassette storage unit with a storage bin, which is quite useful. BTW, we just bought a place in south FL. Will ship our '02 CL 500 Sport in a few weeks and may send the C4s as we approach winter in Boston.

POST 13 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Andrew: Do you have a picture?

POST 14Original post

Congratulations on making the choice. Wife got to you with the red, huh? Just kidding I'd go with my original recommendation on the litronics/Bi-xenon, as everyine else seems to recc. It's a great safety item, aside from the distinctive color of the lights. If you are not sure about the price, just have them put a question mark on it. That way, if it still totals out at/less than $90k, you can still get it and not get stuck with one without it.

POST 15 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

BTW, the mirrors cited above are standard, but not to sure about the trip meter.

POST 16Original post

ohsixx: I have a few jpegs that I made from scanned pics and can email them to you. As a non-tech, I have no idea of how to post them on this site. My email is [email removed] Our dealer threw in LoJack and the 3M protective film kit for the leading edges and hood. It won't hurt to ask, as both offer protection.

POST 19Original post

and a big congrats from another C4S waiter! These will be the longest four months you will know. I know, because I'm dying a slow death waiting for mine!

POST 20Original post

Congratulations ohsixx. I know you've been asking a lot questions in the last couple of months as any prudent buyer should. We are all thrilled you have taken the plunge. Welcome to a whole new world of excitement. There is no substitute. Regards.

POST 21Original post

Congrats ohsixx. Guards Red was my 2nd choice for color. I was going to get the contrasting stitching for the interior in red and the seatbelts in red also. But at the last minute I decided to go for the Silver for the stealth factor when driving a little over the limit Also, it's the classic German racing color. July seems like forever, so I can't imagine what September feels like... Did you get a better price than what you mentioned before?

POST 22Original post

Be sure to head east to Ocean Blvd. on Copans and take a nice cruise up to Palm Beach on A1A in the early evening after getting it. Stop for a quick snack in down town Palm then take Okechobee over to 95N and home. Great drive in a great car. Prepare for turning heads(Yes, even in S.Florida) Congrats!

POST 23 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Todd: Sounds like you have been there. I am going to remember your directions.

POST 24Original post

Copan Road east to US-1/Federal Highway Left or north on FederalHighway Right/east first sign for A1A or beach Left/north on A1A North about 35 mi to Okeechobee Blvd Between Hillsboro and Boca is nothing special but afterwards or north of Boca it's breathtaking. You can take Okeechobee back to I-95 or the Florida Turnpike. It might be nice on A1A north of Palm Beach but I've never been there. Bring a radar detector of course.

[quote]Originally posted by ohsixx: I received a fair discount from Champion. Brumos was a little stubborn and wanted MSRP. So, they lost a sale.

I bought my car from Brumos as a lease return. I love the car and have had no problems with it whatsoever. However, after some post sale issues (Brumos did correct) and poor customer service, I do not think I would be purchasing another car from them.

POST 26 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I wonder if Brumos's Service Department is any better than their Sales Department? I only live five miles from Brumos and 200 to 300 miles from Champaion.

POST 27Original post

congrats o-6! get bixenons and auto dimming mirror also-great options -- also consider bose stereo--great improvement over prior models.

POST 28Original post

I would strongly recommend that you find an independent shop for service that is not covered under warranty.

[quote]Originally posted by ohsixx: I wonder if Brumos's Service Department is any better than their Sales Department? I only live five miles from Brumos and 200 to 300 miles from Champaion.

Their service department is supposed to be pretty good. My father has had good experiences there as far as the service goes. My issues involved the rims, they swapped out the original rears b/c of curb rash. Unfortunatly they put on the twist instead of Technology. The salesman then told me that I was wrong despite what the original sticker said. He told me that the Technology rims were the 10 spoke radial ones (Sport Classic). The salesman was of no help in getting this resolved, however the parts manager took care of it right away. My other issue had to do with the paint job for the aero kit they installed, they never checked the quality of the paint work performed (sent out for paintwork). They failed me in this department twice now. I still have bubbles in my front and rear spoilers. All of these issues would have easily been dealt with had I been closer to the Jax. It is just a real pisser when you do a 600 mile round trip, leave your car for 1 month at the dealer, and when you get it back... it is still not right. Despite my issues with the salesman and the poor paintwork, I beleive they are very capable as far as service and maintenance goes.

POST 30 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Sloth: I am with you; that is truely crappy service you received. If you don't mind, just wondering what Brumos charged for the Aero Package and what did it include?

POST 31Original post

I do not recall what the exact cost was. You can always find it on special somewhere, though I do not think there is a full kit available for the 2002 models. Though with a C4s you always go for the turbo wing. My kit included a new rear lid with the rear wing, front spoiler, and rockers. I also ot the GT3 spats behind the rear wheels. They had my car painted at Precision... beware. From what I hear Osteins does good work.

POST 32Original post

Ohsixx, Curious...who was your salesperson at Champion? They all tend to be pretty decent. I've acquired my two Porsches from them.

POST 33 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Jim: Based on someone's recommendation I called Paul Householder. He strikes me as someone who knows what he is doing. I sure hope he is correct about the delivery month.

POST 34Original post

Paul is a nice guy. They are pretty good about keeping up on delivery dates. Sometimes things are off target but I don't think that's their fault. The August slow down probably is taken into account for your delivery....I hope.

POST 35Original post

Congrats, your a waiter now, The countdown really starts when you get: ACKNWL ACPORD

POST 36Original post

Congratulations! I ordered on 6/8 and was told November (5 months) delivery. Anyone have experience, comments about Porsche of North Orlando?
