Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi there, nice forum......I'm just curious what kind of discount you have received or agreed on off your C4S (if any). Not interested in the MSRP, thats none of my business. Just want to get an idea, trying to avoid getting ripped off. For those of you that factory ordered, how long did it take for the vehicle to come in? The C4S would replace the Viper I have now. Thanks for any information, I appreciate it.

Paid full MSRP here in Vancouver Canada. No negotiating.Only one Porsche dealer west of Rockies. $126,000.00 including heated seats, rain sensor/dimming mirrors, BiXenon/Bose stereo. At todays exchange rate thats 82,350.00 American dollars.(taxes extra)Ordered in february, June build, delivery? As early as mid July, as late as late August. My car has to go through Panama Canal to SanDiego then truck to Vancouver. A friend had a C4s April build and picked it up mid May, another had a 996tt took 8 weeks from production to delivery.

POST 4Original post

Paid MSRP. Have bought three cars in the last five years from this dealership, but this was the dealerships first C4S and they apologized they could not give me a discount. Ordered the car October(No deposit!!), changed my mind November since I wanted to actually SEE a C4S before buying, dealership offered a C2 cab at $6500 off MSRP which I declined, got a call from dealer late January that a dealer in CA had a buyer with deposit ready for "my car", I looked at pictures, and signed for the car. STILL no deposit, just a handshake, BUT, no discount. Delivered 2 weeks later. Super excellent service, though. They drop everything whenever I show up, ready to answer even some of my most inane questions (After 500 miles, "Does the exhaust tip look like it's off to one side? No, but we'll check it with a caliper". And they do!!)

POST 5Original post

Full retail price. Ordered in March, for the 1 allocated to my dealer which was a May build. She was built by May 7th, and just got to port June 4. On here way here.

POST 6Original post

I rec'd $2K off car plus have had a few mods. done at below retail. 2nd Porsche purchased, so deal recognizes past purchase and service relationship. As mentioned by Palting, beyond an actual MSRP discount, one of the most valuable "concessions" you can build into your deal is an understanding between you and the dealership that you are an enthusiast who recongnizes they are in business to make a profit but that, in return, you expect the dealership's dedication to your service needs for as long as you own the car. If you get the feeling that the dealer "drops everything when you show up" for service, you have cut a good deal.

POST 7Original post

My situation was this: I ordered a C4S due in Sept at retail/list. However, a week after I placed my order a C4S came into port for Champion and the original customer backed out of the order at that time. Champion, my dealer, called me and asked me if I was interested as the car was due in house in a few days. My original order was quite different but since I was taking the car the moment it arrived the dealer was willing to knock off some dinero. And I'm quite content with my artic silver/black C4S.

POST 8Original post

beltfed $3k off msrp--my 4th car from this dealer. i was lucky to get any money off. another dealer who i previously got 1 car from in 1997 would not budge from msrp. good luck--please tell us what deal you are able to negociate. <img src="graemlins/cussing.gif" border="0" alt="[grrrrrrr]" />

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks for the feedback folks, its most helpful.....I went to one dealer today and called two others. The C4S appears to be a full MSRP car, the model is just tight right now. I think a standard 996 is going to fit the bill better for me. Since I lease my cars, the C4S (being a limited vehicle) just doesn't lease that great. Its residual is very good, but the interest rates are not aggressive- they don't have to be on this car. So, I'll most likely go with a 996 coupe with the fixed rear spoiler, flared rockers, etc. Just have to figure out when to order it.

I got my lease at 5.9% for 48 months...not too shabby. Through a credit union.
