Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Is there any performance advantage to running 94 over 93 ?
Leading evidence: 'Run 94 over 93' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Run 94 over 93' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

If 93 octane is available to you, it's of no advantage to use higher octane.

Suggestion
Only advantage to using higher octane ie 100 is if you plan to have a reprogrammed ecu to optimize the benefits of the higher octane gasoline but like Palting said with stock ecu optimum benefit is around octane 93.

You cannot add more power by using an octane rating higher than what the car was designed for.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I'm aware that the car will adjust to a variety of octane ratings. Is there any performance advantage to running 94 over 93 ? A local station also offers 100 octane "racing gas" at about 2/ gal. What if anything would that do ?

It will empty your pockets quicker, that's about all. The car is designed for optimum performance at 93 Octane. It will detune itself to accept 92 or even 91 octane. You cannot add more power by using an octane rating higher than what the car was designed for.
Only advantage to using higher octane ie 100 is if you plan to have a reprogrammed ecu to optimize the benefits of the higher octane gasoline but like Palting said with stock ecu optimum benefit is around octane 93. At 2/gallon for oct 100 that's cheap over in CA at sears point they charge 4.50 a pop. But higher octane gasoline is better for the engine though. Regards. Mike
If 93 octane is available to you, it's of no advantage to use higher octane. If not, then a mix of 100 with whatever available to achieve 93 octane will make more power. Got to www.76.com select products and services then select racing gas, scroll down to the mixing chart that will guide you to the necessary mix for your needs.

Mike, I was with you right up until the last sentence.
There is no benefit to using higher octane fuel if your engine doesn't require it....it doesn't contain more energy, it doesn't burn cleaner, and it isn't higher quality. It's a complete waste of money to burn higher octane fuel than your engine is designed to use.
