Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

With regard to how you handle the wait.....my approach was to visit the dealer at least once a week to sit in one of their showroom models (even used ones when new is not available).
Leading evidence: 'Use ones' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Replace made' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

I am very anxious to see official details on the changes made for '03; at this point I have no idea.

I am confident the changes will be pleasing, though.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Just wanted to introduce myself to the forum members as a new member. We are on our way today to discuss final details and put in the order for our 996C2. With all the options available, this has been a long week of research and tough descisions. The next four months will be rather long as well, I am sure.
Cheers

Is it a Coupe or Cab? If Coupe, get the rear wiper. Get PSM, advanced technik package, CD in dash, crests in the headrests are a MUST. Other nice things are power seats, painted center console, carbon/alum steering wheel, shifter and handbrake. Good Luck with your choices.
It's all done. This is where the wait starts. Estimated delivery time is mid November '02 (5 Months wait). The final choices we have made are:
Aluminum Instrument Dials
Technic Package
18" Carrera Wheels
Power Seat Package
Flared Rocker Panels
Floor Mats
All this is for a C2 Coupe (Black/Black)
Any suggestions on how to make the ~150 days pass more quickly?
When is the earliest delivery for a '03? I would think a November delivery would be a '03 not a '02. Can someone explain when new model years start with Porsche?
The order we placed is for a '03. The dealership informed me that pricing will be finalized in July. I am assuming all orders placed from here on forward will be for '03 models. I would think that you should see new models starting late September? This is a good question. I am very anxious to see official details on the changes made for '03; at this point I have no idea. I hope they leave the exhaust system alone, as it is an improvement over the '01, which was a bit too quiet. I am confident the changes will be pleasing, though.
The dealer offered to put the kit on the list, but we're not too concerned about muscle. Also, it doesn't come cheep; somewhere near $10.- after tax?!?
Couple quick notes... unlike myself, you sound like you will not be driving the car that hard or doing tarck events so most of my normal option reccomendations will not apply. Definitely look for the full leather interior, it is a huge improvement in the interior. At that point also go for the sport seats for about $300. I love the carbon fiber, but it is big bucks. Either option on the DSP for the stereo or plan on aftermarket. My delaer has informed me that I am slated for a July build and September delivery. I can't wait

Definitely order the advanced technic package. You will find that the hi-fi stereo offered in the technic package is not an efficient system. With the advanced tech pkg, you get the Bose stereo and the bi-xenon headlights. Both are a vast improvement over standard.
Thanks for the input.
We listened carefully to the Bose, and found it to be overpowering. With the Loudness off, and the bass all the way down, it was still very bass dominant. We also listened to the standard audio, and the Hi-Fi package included with the Technic Package (which includes the Bi-Xenons), and found the Hi-Fi package the most appealing; a nice balance between the standard and the Bose. We are confident about our choice, and understand that there are folks who would like the Bose better. Frankly, I'd rather listen to the car than the stereo, and the sound system took second place, while knowing that the Hi-Fi system with the Technic Package would serve us fine when in the mood for music. Again, personal choice.
We admit not having tried the Bose with the amp switched off.
The Bi-Xenon's are a nice addition. The lights stay focused on the road, even if the car swivels up and down (besides of course having a nice distinguished color).
Before making your descision, listen to all the available audio systems, and make up your own mind; it's all about personal taste.
btw, we walked into the dealership with a stack of our own CD's to test...
THE LEATHER... Well, again personal taste. We found the standard interiour very appealing, especially the standard seats. What in our opinion the Full Leather Package added the most to were the doors and the dashdoard (the stearing wheel is another extra). The leather is great, but not what we wanted for an extra $3250.- (approx). The standard seats are leather, with vinyl backs - very nice in their own way, and look different from the leather seats. Decide by looking at them side-by-side.
None of this should matter if price is not an issue, which it was for us. We looked very carefully at what we really wanted for the money.
Sorry, the second part of my reply didn't quite make it in!
With regard to how you handle the wait.....my approach was to visit the dealer at least once a week to sit in one of their showroom models (even used ones when new is not available). This lets you visualize the glory that will soon be yours.
Also, visit Rennlist at list twice a day. In this way you can become part of the community and begin to feel like a Porsche owner, even though you haven't consumated the relationship.
Third, look at every Porsche you see on the road twice. Go over and look into every Porsche you see in parking lots. Talk to every owner about their car.
After all of this, it is still ultimate pain and agony. After 3 months my car is produced and ready for shipment. I am still suffering.
