Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi Guys,
I have an opportunity to either purchase a pre-owned '02 C2 or a '00 C2 Cab for 70k. I have a few questions.
1: Are those good prices?
2: Which one would you recommend me getting?
Thank You.
Hard to say since you are looking at a coupe vs cab. So, you need answer that question first then move on.
But, I would go with the 02 since you get a better engine. I think the folks who want from 99-01 to 02 seems very pleased. But I think 70k is bit high for a used 02. I think more like mid60k is the right area.
I guess my question is would I give up alot of driving experience by getting a Cab and I've heard ppl say that they would rather get a Boxster S than a C2 Cab.
65k for a used '02? Hmm..if the sticker is ~75k...is that too low? I'm just afraid to be hustle by the dealer.
Thanks for the help
Price on the cab is WAY too high
I am looking at '99s and seeing lots of them at $57k
I could never buy a coupe, just not a sportscar for me (same with Tip)
If you feel the way I do, there's your answer

Yup, for me, I would rather get a Boxster S than a C2 Cab (almost did!Got a C4S instead!)
Brand new base C2 is $68K sticker. 2001 base C2 is $58K dealer price (NADA). Figure $10K diff. Agree with bloke, mid 60's or less appropriate price for 75k sticker for several reasons. Brand new C2 already being bought at 3-6k discounts, it may be MY '02 but it is still a USED MY '02, 7k worth of options in a USED car usually gets minimal credit to the sale price.
Also, at $70K, why buy a used car? There may be savings such as luxury tax, but the question that always begs to be asked is, why did it end up as a used car for sale? Wouldn't you be better off buying new C2 with dealer discount?
I recently purchased a 2001 C2 Cab here in central Florida. I think pricing can vary quite a bit depending on location and option (not to mention all the standard things like condition, etc). When I went looking for a Cab I found that they weren't available long before they were sold The pre-owned Porsche salesman told me that Cabs sell fast. I thought it was just a sales angle until I called back the next day only to find out the car (1999 C2) was sold 30 minutes after I drove it.
I also found that 996 C2 coupes were readily available (99-02), but I wanted a cab, which I finally got but had to move fast on.
I know this has been discussed before but after chking the price of a loaded C2..it is about a few thousands within a C4S..
my question is since I'm living in CA, would I even reap the benefits of having the 4wd etc? and whether it make sense for me to spend the extra $$ to get the C4S?
Thanks so much guys for your advice

Heh-heh-heh. Knew I'd get you away from the used car lot, especially since you are willing to spend at least 70K.
Is the C4S worth it? For me, YES!!!! Mine is essentially a fair weather car, but the performance upgrades and looks were enough to convince me. As you've said, this has been discussed before, so do a search of the archives. LOTS of info there, as well as conflicting opinions. Keyword: C4S. After that, go look at the cars and test drive them. Only YOU can decide.
i went through a similiar decision
i advise like palting that you drive the c4s before you decide. you might like it as much as we do! <img src="graemlins/jumper.gif" border="0" alt="[jumper]" /> <img src="graemlins/jumper.gif" border="0" alt="[jumper]" /> <img src="graemlins/jumper.gif" border="0" alt="[jumper]" /> <img src="graemlins/jumper.gif" border="0" alt="[jumper]" />
i think that the extra equipment and 4wd are easily worth the extra bucks. just be sure you drive a c4s before you decide!
let us know what you decide! <img src="confused.gif" border="0">
