I bought a Torx screw driver and tightened the two screws around the right dash speaker. That worked for a few days, then it started squeaking again.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

2 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

1 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi! I recently purchased a 99 C2 tiptronic cabriolet (red/tan/black) with about 7,000 miles on it from a dealership quite far from me. My first Porsche: what a blast! I love driving it, top down, on the twisty back roads around where I live, hearing the growl of the engine. But I've got a few questions, I'm hoping some folks here can help me out. 1) The dashboard squeaks noticably, esp over about 40 mph with the top down. I bought a Torx screw driver and tightened the two screws around the right dash speaker. That worked for a few days, then it started squeaking again. I tightened again, but it did not help much. What can I do? Are there other hidden screws holding the dash? Is this something a local dealer's repair shop should be able to fix? 2) Sometimes (about 20% of the time), when I'm parking, the car doese not shift into park. I shift slowly from D, thru N, R, and into the P position, but the little red light still says R, and the car is in reverse. Once in this state, I usually can't get it into P, so I turn it off and when I want to start later, have to start in N. Is this something that would be covered by the standard warranty? I've got about another year on the 4-year warranty. 3) I only got two keys (both with remote entry), but one sticks a bit in the ignition (sometimes hard to turn). How can I get another key, and how expensive is it? Thanks! Nick

POST 2Original post

Hi Nick: Congratulations on your recent purchase. I believe you definitely have warranty issues. Don't know how far away your dealer is (I have to drive 77 miles), but it might be worthwile making an appointment if you have the time. I believe all dealers have to honor warranty issues so that would be the next step. In any case I would bring it to the attention in writing from the dealer you bought the car from, just to be on the record if you have an issue later on. It's too bad something like this has to spoil what would otherwise be a great experience. Good luck, and be persistant even if you have to get the zone manager involved!
