Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.

Suggestion

My guess is that any change will be incremental, but when my lease is up in 2004, I will be in the market for one of these monsters if they exist.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

The British magazine Car reports having sighted a wide-track 996 scheduled for 2003 with a 340 hp 3.8 flat six engine. The widened rear, they speculate, (and slightly raised hump) will allow fitting the Cayenne's V8 into the S version of the next 996 in 2005.

POST 2Original post

Im all for a V8 Carrera! Maybe a 2+2 concept with front engine V8 power? (989 concept or aka. 928 successor) The possibilities.....

POST 3Original post

Best reasoning is next generation " 997" narrow body versions will have classic flat 6 and 2+2 seating ; all wide body " S" models will have normally aspirated V8 with maybe absent rear seats ; and next Twin Turbo to have turbo'd V8 . Makes more business sense than current price overlapping marketing. The Cayenne is obviously NOT the only reason for the expensive development cost of the V8. It only happened because the business case was made to the supervisory board that motor could be used in other models (911) and might as well real world test it on a truck before selling it in its flagship 911 line.

POST 4Original post

With the BMW 5 series coming out with a 380 hp twin turbo 6 and performance rapidly increasing across all makes, a v8 may be the answer for porsche. What about a w8 configuration with low displacement, capable of high revs to cut down on overall size. My guess is that any change will be incremental, but when my lease is up in 2004, I will be in the market for one of these monsters if they exist. Especially if they make a cab version!

POST 5Original post

I heard VW/Audi is having a 65% failure rate in the field of their W12 engine in the Euro only A8- 12 model ( same engine that was supposed to power the S-class challenging $80K VW Phaeton) . Crankshafts are snapping. Back to the drawing board.

POST 6Original post

Well.... once it is ironed out it could be a great layout for a porsche.
