Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Well, after 12 years I am finally back in the Porsche family. I sold my 67 911 back in 1990 and have regretted it since.... I just ordered a 2002 C2 Coupe. June production/July delivery. Arctic Silver/Black partial leather. Optioned as follows: 030 Sport Chassis P77 Sport seats 696 CD radio 411 18" Carrera wheels M6A Black Floormats I intend to autocross the car, hence the minimum of options. I was going to do sunroof delete but chickened out that the last minute. I am so stoked!!!! July can't get here soon enough!! Guess I will have to change my nickname soon

POST 2Original post

Congratulations on your order! Damn, it's such a long time until July!

POST 3Original post

Welcome back and congratulations on choosing a 996 "narrow-body"....Arctic Silver/black is a great combo. Only 61 days until the beginning of July, then it's countdown mode!

POST 4Original post

Hi, Today I collected my 1999 (year W) Carrera Coupe and am a very happy person!! I hope you get yours soon. Did sell my old 993 Carrera three months ago and was feeling very bad since then..... My 996 is tiptronic, just like my 993 was - same colour - same interior - just new tech. long live porsche

POST 5Original post

Welcome buds!! Keep growing and growing the 996's owners! that's good! I Hope to see some pics!!! ps: Hey Wanna996be, don't forget the PSM as a option..! happy driving.

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

PSM would just get in the way when autocrossing and I don't plan to drive it in the rain. Besides I can't see paying all that money for some software...

POST 7Original post

Just keep in mind that without PSM you have an open differential and no option for limited slip. PSM makes the standard diff act like a limited slip by loading the inboard unloaded wheel with the brakes. You can switch it off and even then it will switch back on under braking to keep the diff locked and increase stability under braking. It really is quite clever. All we need now is "launch control"!

POST 8Original post

Personally I don't think you need PSM but it's definitely a good safety net just in case something crazy happens. Is it to my understanding that without PSM in the car there's no other traction contorl device? My car does have the traction control and I have yet to spin off but I think it all comes down to ability of driver to react to the situation. Sometimes with any traction control devices people think they can push the car harder just like cars having ABS thinking they could stop faster so they can go faster but there are limits. I totally understand about the sunroof delete thing-I chickened out as well. I think for a normal driver and doing occasional de/autox events a year it won't affect that much but to each their own. Regards. Mike
