So now my 01 has DRLs using the Canadian concept except for a "factory" H6W lamp in the headlight housing for forward DRL.

Apparently the Canadian impementation uses the HID headlamp and all of the parking lamps.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

2 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I have a 99 911 that was of Canadian origin and thus included DRLs. Apparently the Canadian impementation uses the HID headlamp and all of the parking lamps. I didn't really care for the HID part, and neither did on-coming motorists, but I thought the rear parking lamps being on was a definite safety asset. So here's what I did to my new 01 AWD 911. I jumpered the high side of the seat heat fuse to the high side of both left and right parking lamp fuses/circuits. So now my 01 has DRLs using the Canadian concept except for a "factory" H6W lamp in the headlight housing for forward DRL. Apparently the H6W bulb was developed specifically to meet the european DRL requirements. Also: I installed 4 Ledtronics LED "bulbs" in the rear tail-lamp assembly, two of them to replace the existing tail/stop lamps, and two more in the sockets behind the extra red lens. The left one which Porsche uses as a rear fog lamp. The extra LEDs are wired in parallel with the existing stoplamp filament/bulb's socket. Now the LED tail-lamps, the sidelamps and the H6W DRLs always come on with the ignition key, and on brake application the standard stoplamps brighten and the new stoplamps also come on giving a much more "pronounced" annunciation that I have applied the brakes.

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
