Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

25 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

Hector, First off.... Welcome to Rennlist. As for the symbol, I think that is the dreaded "coolant leaking into your oil pan" symbol! Also called coolant/oil intermix! NO, NO, I am just kidding! That was a mean thing for me to do. Sorry, but I couldn't help myself. Seriously, I can't think of what that symbol is or what it means.

POST 11Original post

Toronto, Why would his Porsche be indicating that an Audi, located somewhere in the world, has low washer fluid? Oh wait...... now I get it! Seriously, good find!

POST 14Original post

Hawaii's vehicle registration department has for a long time labelled cars sold before the new year as the same year they are sold in. Which would mean if a 98 996 were sold before the first of the year then it would have 1997 stamped on it's registration. Then who knows what typo's our wonderful world can supply us with.

That's it - Warning light The warning lights in the instrument panel and on-board computer light when approximately 0.5 liter is left in the reservoir.

Sure ...ROW had the 996 well before the US. Nice to have another UK member.

POST 17Original post

14 1997 996's went to Brazil for some reason and on record, they were the first off the line and sold other then pre-production / test units. All other 996's have 98 and up VIN numbers.

POST 18Original post

OMG that drawing is awesome - do you wanna be MY friend..... thats exactly the way I do things I am pissing my pants laughing at that ****

POST 20 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi all thanks for the replies firstly yea they did start on 1997 here in the UK secondly i have the washer container topped right up so dont think its that, as for my drawing my hands were busy typing so I got my pet terrier to draw that quality piccy!! So after all that I am none the wiser, the symbol is right next to the airbag symbol if that helps

POST 21Original post

Quotes source post: 7225474

As you described it and illustrated it, that's exactly what the owner's manual says it is - low washer fluid.

POST 22Original post

maybe its unplugged - can terrier take pitures?

POST 23Original post

Quotes source post: 7225474

Then I would guess it is a bad sensor which is triggering the light.

POST 24Original post

I had a T-fitting on the washer line crack and pop loose; all my washer fluid was just spraying under the hood instead of cleaning my windows. I can't recall if it gave that indication or not, but boy was my battery clean!

POST 25 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Fault lamp now out!! I was a dodgy connection on the sensor for washer fluid, cheers for your input folks
