I'm not terribly upset, and I know the wheel repair guy can handle this onsite if need be, but I wonder if there is something I should try on it again besides the P21S finish restorer.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

2 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Not really a scratch. Had my rears replaced Friday by dealer. They did fine handling the 18's, but this is the 4th set of rears and the first time I noticed this. Where the former wheel weights were glued, the tech used something to remove them. It 'looks' like scratches up inside the wheel well, but it's not really deep enough to 'feel' like a true scratch. I used some P21S finish restorer with no luck. I don't think it's residue from the glue either - clear jabs going inward where the tech pushed hard with the tool. Strange, but true. I'm not terribly upset, and I know the wheel repair guy can handle this onsite if need be, but I wonder if there is something I should try on it again besides the P21S finish restorer. Suggestions? And also, what do your tire shops use to remove the weights - force or chemical?

There's a product called Goo Gone (bad name, good product) that cuts just about every adhesive I've come across. And leaves nothing behind. Try any hardware store or even some grocery stores might have it.
