As for driving, I am still trying to adjust the oversteer out of the car using the sway bars as the primary means and tires as a last alternative.

hello, I have the complete GT-3 suspension in my 2001 996, I do not know what the spring rates are as I orded them using factory part #'s.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

hello, I have the complete GT-3 suspension in my 2001 996, I do not know what the spring rates are as I orded them using factory part #'s. I can tell you though that they are made by H+R, they are progressive rate and you can probably find out from H+R direct or FVD in Florida(thats where I got them) what the rates are. They are STIFF for the street.
Good luck
Dennis
Dennis, would you mind to tell me the factory part numbers on the GT3 suspension you got? What exactly you got with the GT3 susp kit? Like 4 pieces of coil over shocks + 4 coil springs, sway bars, etc????
How much you pay for it from FVD? Does the installation require any modification to the stock 996 suspension??
How long does it take for the whole susp kit to be delivered by FVD?
Does the GT3 susp fix the understeer or just make it worst....?
Your help is appreciated
Hello, sorry it took a day or two to get back at ya.
The part numbers are two pages long and my suggestion would be to get the PET CD if you decide to go that route.
I did not get all the parts from FVD so without getting too complicated I will tell you that the parts are very hard to get, I got the shocks directly from Bilstein, the springs and about 60% of the associated mounting hardware from FVD and the Sway bars from the Racers Group, with adjustable drop links of course.
The set up is very stiff for the street unless you live in a very rural area where the roads are very good. I am aggressive driving at the track and will club race the car so its a trade off I will live with. If you are just "starting out" or not that serious about track I would opt for another choice..... H+R, Bilstien PSS 9, or similar.
The GT3 Setup including sway bars runs in the $6000 range depending on the discounts you can get from you parts source. You really dont have too much choice on the sways($1100) so thats your starting point. You could combine them with the H+R and be ready to roll for about $3000.
If you go GT-3 you cant use any of your existing suspension parts, they are all different.
As for driving, I am still trying to adjust the oversteer out of the car using the sway bars as the primary means and tires as a last alternative. Hopefully there is enough adjustment in the sways to make the car handle the way I like it..... If not I will be wishing I went with double or triple adjustable shocks.
Good luck
Dennis
Email Gert at Carnewal.com for the GT3 parts. I have had very good luck with him, parts to me in California in 2 days via DHL from Belgium. <img src="graemlins/yltype.gif" border="0" alt="[typing]" /> <img src="graemlins/burnout.gif" border="0" alt="[burnout]" />
