I had the seal replaced and the oil leak terminated but left the pan on the floor just in case something else leaks.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

10 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

@%$#*!!!!!! Don't freakin' ask how but I got Valvoline Motor racing oil all over my painted garage floor and event the walls and some items in the garage. What's the best agent to clean this mess up? Call me Exxon Jim or Valdez Jim. Sheesh! (Thank god it didn't get on the C4S and the Ferrari was out on the driveway.)

POST 2Original post

Try Castrol SuperClean. Works like a champ. Cuts really well, and you can wash it out with a hose!

POST 3Original post

How did you get Valvoline Racing oil on your garage floor?

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I said don't ask!!! OK, Give me a freakin' moron award and here's a true story for your work on Monday. : The Ferrari had a shift shaft seal leak (these tend to need repair every decade or so). I positioned a drip pan on the painted floor were I park the car in my garage. Oil collected in the pan. I had the seal replaced and the oil leak terminated but left the pan on the floor just in case something else leaks. I usually park in the garage nose in. Yesterday I backed in because I wanted to tear out of the garage at speed because I am recording the Ferrari as the opening intro to my music CD which will be released this summer or fall. Mics are all set up, record enabled and I start her up, rev the engine and then tear out. Well, when I backed in, a rear wheel rested on the oil pan. When I pulled out, the wheel spun on the oil pan spraying the gunk behind the Ferrai onto the walls and floor. Before I knew it, I had traction and the oil pan flies out from behind the Ferrari into the usual garage residents (vacuum, bicycles, old computer, boxes). I then leave a one wheel path of oil down my concrete driveway. So 1/3rd of my garage looks like an oil refinery explosion. I feel like the schuck of the millenia.

POST 5Original post

Did you get it all on tape? Sorry

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

The Ferrari? Yes. The parts that clipped or peaking don't sound so bad which is remarkable since it's digital and not analog clipping. My tirade? Er...no, that wasn't captured to hard disk.

POST 7Original post

Wow. That story takes the cake. Sorry I don't have much advice to offer. A puddle, I might agree with the adsorbents, but walls and shelves? The only thing I can think of is elbow grease, a good detergent, tons of water, and judicious use of a garbage can. I sure would have loved a video tape, though.

POST 8Original post

hmmmm I assumed you brought a DAT recorder out to the garage. HERE'S the software/hardware I use to record. Check some of my stuff HERE Rock-N-Roll and fast cars baby!!!

POST 10 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

In retrospect is was pretty funny. I tried the Super Clean spray and it worked decently but stripped some paint from the driveway as anticipated. The Ferrari sounds really great when played back but for a 45 second intro I have to clean and repaint my driveway and probably garage floor?! FYI: The CD is original instrumental (hopefully not too boring) rock with some funk jazz, solo acoustic guitar, and one surf-calypso tune. Once it's all done it'll be up for grabs on a site like CDBaby. Perhaps when I break in the C4S maybe I'll record the exhaust and engine ...eithout a mess! No, I'm not quitting my day job. Non-sequitir of my recording gear: ProTools LE, Digi001, RME ADI-8 PRO ad/da converters, Mac G4 CD-RW/DVD-RW, Firewire backup, dual HD with 60Gb for music, Waves Native Gold bundle and a few other plug-ins. Soldano SLO guitar amp, Palmer speaker simulator, Kern 777 bass preamp, Sadowsky guitars & bass, old Martin D-28 herringbone, outboard fx pedals for the electric guitar, yadda, yadda, yadda.
