Can they be tested with a smoke machine to make sure they are damaged?

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

2 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

My car hit a rock earlier this year that resulted in damage to the fuel feed and return lines. I am replacing the fuel feed line first to the engine from the fuel filter. The shop looked at the car initially and gave an estimate for repairs. They also thought the air line 996 201 361 01 and 996 201 351 00 and the breather 996 201 251 07 needed replaced. I cannot visually see any damage to these. However, they appear to be easier to access with the engine lowered if they do need replaced. Can they be tested with a smoke machine to make sure they are damaged? I have run the car for approx. 300 miles with temporary fuel injection line double clamped to the fuel lines. In this time there were no check engine lights. I would think that damaged air lines or breather would at least set off a CEL light? Thanks

POST 2Original post

Im guessing the air line is tje brake booster vac line. Yes u can smoke test it. Just remove it off the tntake and go from there.
