Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I installed the Ruf short shift kit Friday at the 30% reduction. Shift effort was noticably increased due to the reduced leverage compared to stock. Shift is much "notchier", which is good IMO. I am not convinced that I like the set-up and may try the 40% reduction setting. If the 40% is not quite right I may return to stock or install the B&M short shift, which is an entirely different set-up. Was a bit disappointed with the cable allignment of the Ruf kit, as it curves it slightly from stock, thus increasing the friction. Would appreciate any comments from those with experience with the Ruf short shift.

Andrew: It sounds like there may have been a problem with the installation. While I don't have the RUF kit in my car, I did install the TechArt short shift kit (which is very similar, i.e., modified bracket installs at the tranny/linkage point and is adjustable)and have none of your problems. Shifting effort (at 30% reduction) feels about the same as stock and shifting is as smooth as stock--definitely not more "notchy" than stock.
