Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Here are a few pics from this weekend following installation of the RUF pedals and aluminum gauges I mentioned in a previous post. The rear center console is being painted this week and I will post another pic showing those results. <a href="http://boards.rennlist.com/upload/TJHC4S118.JPG" target="_blank">http://boards.rennlist.com/upload/TJHC4S118.JPG</a> <a href="http://boards.rennlist.com/upload/TJHC4S1212.JPG" target="_blank">http://boards.rennlist.com/upload/TJHC4S1212.JPG</a> <a href="http://boards.rennlist.com/upload/TJHC4S1222.JPG" target="_blank">http://boards.rennlist.com/upload/TJHC4S1222.JPG</a> <a href="http://boards.rennlist.com/upload/TJHC4S1232.JPG" target="_blank">http://boards.rennlist.com/upload/TJHC4S1232.JPG</a> <a href="http://boards.rennlist.com/upload/TJHC4S1282.JPG" target="_blank">http://boards.rennlist.com/upload/TJHC4S1282.JPG</a> <a href="http://boards.rennlist.com/upload/TJHC4S1292.JPG" target="_blank">http://boards.rennlist.com/upload/TJHC4S1292.JPG</a>

POST 2Original post

Nice, Is that seal grey? Also, can you get some sort of aero rear wing on the S as a factory option? jason

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Seal grey it is. An aero wing was not a factory option, although I'm sure it's just a matter of time before the aftermarket companies come up with one. I believe someone on an earlier post indicated they had tried to have the dealer order the TT wing for their C4S and PCNA rejected it.

POST 4Original post

Very nice! Really spruces it up. I had decided not to do any significant upgrades until my car mellows a bit, but looking at your set-up, I may just change my mind. Great racy look. <img src="graemlins/bigok.gif" border="0" alt="[thumbsup]" /> Jason, I had the dealer try to have the turbo spoiler installed as a factory option in the C4S, but the factory would not allow it. You can do any combo as an aftermarket deal, I suppose Since it is a wide body, the C4S is limited to aerokits/spoilers that would also fit the 996TT. I'd like to know what others on this board have done.

POST 5Original post

I was just wondering if it's at all possible to retrofit the widebody aspects of the C4S to a narrowbody? It's a beautiful car : ). Regards. Mike

POST 6Original post

Stunning, I have one on order for a June build. Where did you get the aluminum gages? Who installed them? Installation cost? I live in Whistler, Canada and Weissach the Ruf dealer is very handy, is that where you got the pedals and did you install them yourself.

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Coop: I'd like to say that I am mechanically inclined enough and/or have enough time to do some of my own mods, but that would be a lie. My claim to fame rests with a ragged '73 Super Beetle Convertible that I successfully restored back in the mid-eighties. That was enough for me, despite the fact that I reflect fondly on that project. My dealer ordered my aluminum gauges from North Hollywood Speedo [phone removed]. The gauges cost about $300 and the tech's labor time was about 3 hours. As you suspected, I purchased the RUF aluminum pedals from Weissach in Vancouver, BC. I talked with Andrew at (800)665-6688 and he shipped them directly to the dealer for installation. The cost of the pedals was $299 for the 3-pedal set and $199 for the dead pedal. Apparently the pedals and clear side markers that I purchased were installed in less than an hour. I am told the hardest part of installing the pedals is removing the rubber pads from the brake and clutch pedal prior to mounting the aluminum replacements. The accelerator and dead pedal mount on top of the original pedals. Hope this helps.

POST 8Original post

<img src="graemlins/bigok.gif" border="0" alt="[thumbsup]" /> Thanks T Hendricks for the info. I think I will order the gages and pedals. Does the C4S have a real different feel to the C2? It rains quite a bit up here in the northwest so I'm really looking forward to taking delivery.

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Coop - I test drove an 02 C2 prior to taking delivery of my C4S and it is a VERY competent vehicle. It is hard to recall all of my impressions from that limited experience (the dealer gave it to me for an afternoon), but what I can say is that the C4S just feels more stable under power in the twisties. While I trust the PSM, I still tend to drive by the seat of my pants and the wider stance and AWD inspire a little more confidence with me. More importantly for me, though, was the wide-body design. I am a sucker for Porsche's flared "hips" and I didn't feel the same love for the C2, even though it had the aero package. Terrence

POST 10Original post

[quote]Originally posted by cooper996: <strong> Does the C4S have a real different feel to the C2? </strong><hr></blockquote>I drove the C2 with 17" rims and C4S with 19" rims back to back twice and the cars are very different. It's not a subtle distinction after you drive them. Regardless of price and delivery time for a custom order the decision is tough. I went for the C4S. C2 feels quicker, more tossable with lighter steering, superb brakes until you get spoiled by a drive in a C4S or TT, slightly bigger front trunk C4S still very quick but feels slightly heavier on acceleration, steering heavier -- different and not bad--but more purposeful or steady, brakes are amazing, handles curves like it's on rails, looks quite sexy, different exhaust/engine song (I think the exhaust was stock) I've had the C4S since Friday night and I'm really enjoying it even with the limitation of keeping the rpm maximum to 4200 for the 2000 mi break-in. At speeds of 110 it's stable and confidence inspiring. I have no regrets and every time I walk to the car to get in I am pleased to see the wide-body rear, tail-light reflector joining the brake lights, turbo bumper, elegant looks, drool ad nauseum. At the gym yesterday a bunch of guys stood around the car talking about it. Too bad it wasn't a bunch of girls. ...er...only kidding about the girls of course (see Merc 320 in my signature) .

POST 11Original post

Beautiful Car! Great Pics! I think you've convinced me to install those pedals. I'll try to get my pictures up this weekend. 2002 C4S Arctic Silver/Black

POST 12Original post

T Hendricks, The car looks great! Do you find that there is a great difference in how the RUF pedals feel & function from OEM or do you consider the installation more cosmetic than functional? Thanks, Richard <img src="graemlins/burnout.gif" border="0" alt="[burnout]" />

POST 13 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Richard - Thanks for the comment. For me, the RUF pedals mod was primarily cosmetic. They do not feel or function significantly different than the OEM pedals, although I am still easing the car around a bit as I work my way through the break-in period. I haven't done any vigorous heel-and-toe shifting as yet, but I will post any future impressions I have - good or bad. Terrence
