Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.
Discussions that suspect a cause

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Suspected cause
I should have said about the lowering that the car is way beyond my driving capabilities as it is and there is probably a good reason that they did not lower them more, as you have noted.
Leading evidence: 'good reason' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'good reason' (1 discussions; 0 report identifying it and 1 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Replace tape storage' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

AndrewP, where did you get the storage bin to replace the tape storage?
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I am new the board (as well as a first time Porche owner). I recieved my new 2002 C4S - Arctic Silver with Black interior on March 1, 2002. I currently have 2200 miles. Now that the car is broken-in I am thinking about lowering it. Any comments or ideas.
Congratulations! Have had my C4S for almost 2 months and with 1600 miles on it I am still learning a lot about it. have decided to add a Ruf short shift mechanism, a storage bin where the tape storage box is below the radio, clear side markers, stockier Porsche aluminum/leather shifter/aluminum horseshoe to complement the small aluminum package that came with the car and may add aluminum gauge faces. The suspension is low enough for me and I have not seen any posts on this or other Porsche boards that dicuss lowering the C4S.
Great car. Have the same car. Have 2400 miles on it now. Great minds think alike. I thought about lowering the car as soon as I found out that you could. I hate to tinker with the Porsche engineering however, particularly since the car will be a not-quite-daily but frequent driver with the occasional DE thrown in. Plus, the car is already lowered compared to a standard 996. There has to be a good reason Porsche lowered it only so much. I've had my share of amateur competitive driving in the past as well as aggressive street driving and DE's, and the car in it's current form performs beyond my capabilities. Any lowering for me will have to be purely for cosmetic reasons.
AndrewP, where did you get the storage bin to replace the tape storage? The tape storage looks kind chintzy. I'm sure elbravo may want to know as well. BTW, Jim Stover, also a Rennlist forum participant, with almost the exact same car as elbravo and myself, lowered his C4S prior to delivery.

I ordered from my Porsche dealer. I'll pick it up tomorrow and snap it into place. It costs about $35. The tape or CD storage units are pretty useless. They snap out fairly easily.
I should have said about the lowering that the car is way beyond my driving capabilities as it is and there is probably a good reason that they did not lower them more, as you have noted. It would look better a bit lower, but I am concerned that the increase in handling that may result would be more than I could use and the ride might become pretty hard.
BTW, I joined Rennlist yesterday because this board has been very helpful to me.
Congratulations to all of you who have taken delivery! <img src="graemlins/beerchug.gif" border="0" alt="[cheers]" />
I, on the other hand, will be patiently waiting for the next ten weeks, looking at pictures and visiting the dealership daily to drool over the 996s and Turbos in stock. I've only been able to drool on one C4S because the buyer didn't take immediate delivery.
Andrew P-can you show a picture of your new storage unit? I might want to pursue it. Thanks!
