Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

12 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Since Excellence had a DIY for painting wheels, I figured I'd do it since I dinged the right front pretty good on a rock a couple weeks ago. The sanding and primer job took longer (read:wife had other plans for me) than I expected I didn't finish it up on the weekend. So now the car is sitting on four jacks no biggie right? I didn't think so..... Until my wife asked me, "What happens if there's an earthquake?" Damn it, didn't plan for that. So I got about two weeks before the wheels will be on again. Can't wait to see! Changing the silver turbo twists to graphite.....

tell her the ground shakes..... WOW painting the wheels seems a bit more than just a walk in the park to do it right. Take pictures and post products used and results. think of it like sex, if it takes a long time, the effort will pay off....but then the results last so long you wont get to re-do it for years!! j/k... cheers

Ain't that the damn truth!

That's pretty good... sad and true! The primer came out looking nice so I'M praying that the paint is going to follow. I didn't take any photos of the sanding, did I tell you I hate sanding? I took a couple of the primer. I'll take more during the week when I have time to do a wheel per day....

POST 5Original post

I'd love to see your finished wheels. Here are mine...powder coated in graphite.

POST 7Original post

Thanks David. The exhaust tips are powder coated to match (visible in photo of rear as well) as well as the license plate frame. I have some photos of the car with Strosek side mirrors painted to match, but they have been removed. THey don't look right to me so the original mirrors are back on the car. Here's a couple pics with the Strosek mirrors.

POST 8Original post

my car is arctic silver and i think the graphite wheel color looks great. i'm refinishing my wheels so i'm thinking of going graphite for the paint.

POST 9Original post

I have wondering about this very change on my wheels too. Thanks for posting, looks really good.

POST 10Original post

please understand its just my opinion....I dont mean to be rude or impolite. That wheel color is not my favorite on that color. I personally would not go with that color combo. sorry, just my opinion. your car looks great, when are you going to do an amberectomy to those headlights

POST 11 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Well, I haven't been able to get back to the project. The wheels are setting and letting the paint harden. One wheel needs some additional work since there's a noticable blemish that I need to correct. But I'll at least be able to put the wheels back on this weekend and let it sit some more to make sure everything is good to go. I like the wheel color, the wife doesn't but I'll have to put a poll up to see if they are all "mad tite ghetto" or better than stock....we'll see. BTW I like the photos...
