Inspected the cv axles which look and felt good but a lot of grime around inner joints and oily dirt buildup under the axle stub flanges.

Back on blocks and started in on removing axles to pull stubs and inspect diff, plagued by over torqued bolts and stripped heads.

I�ve been searching everywhere and haven�t come up with any ideas how to get this shaft in a press and not really seeing a puller working for the bearing removal to replace the seal without damaging the flange.

Car it a 2001 C2 coupe with tiptronic at 109k miles.
I�ve been searching everywhere and haven�t come up with any ideas how to get this shaft in a press and not really seeing a puller working for the bearing removal to replace the seal without damaging the flange.
Backstory for those readers out there
The car developed a rotational squeak at low speed on passenger rear it speeds up/slows down at lower speeds not noticeable over 20mph My wife could hear a strange wop wop wop noise as well from the back of the car, not sure if it�s related.
Wheel bearings felt good and brakes looked good however rotors at minimum. Applying brakes or handbrake at slow speed made no difference in sound.
Was more noticeable on right turns so decided to change bearings, refresh brakes and change the atf and filter while at it.
Inspected the cv axles which look and felt good but a lot of grime around inner joints and oily dirt buildup under the axle stub flanges. Only 650ml came out of diff so suspected those seals. Put everything back together since I would need to get seals to tackle that. Squeak persisted.
Back on blocks and started in on removing axles to pull stubs and inspect diff, plagued by over torqued bolts and stripped heads. Finally got everything apart and inspecting stuff.
Bearings look and feel good on diff gear. I was concerned that short stub axle slides in out a little when bolt was tight but read that is normal. Magnet under cover shield had minimal sludge on it for milage. Anyone know torque spec on those? They are T27 head 6mm bolts. Replaced seal and outer cover o-ring so that side is ready to go back together.
Now onto the right side. Lots of junk cleaned off the outside, snap ring removed, bearing feels good but will replace anyway since pulling is going to put all force on outer race. Once figure out how to press or pull it off without damaging the flange. And that�s why I�m here today.
I can slide the bearing a few mm in the flange my main concern is protecting the flange.
I am going to try heating up the bearing later today with a heat gun as I have done with BMW motorcycle final drive bearings however didn�t have the long shaft to contend with on those.
