This is not a probability of success.

To those who have had to replace their cats, I'd be interested in your usage pattern.

Not sure for what use but I hope you know that Cats are warranty for 8 years.

I don't have the original factory cats, but I'm looking for a pair to use on special occasions.

Actually - in the gas shortage this Summer - getting 93 octane was tough - I used some octane booster, went to the track, I always let the car warm up at idle for a while before getting on the track - so I can only guess that there could be a combination of factors there - and I think they say you shouldn't necessarily let the car idle to warm it up - supposedly bad for cats....
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I posted this in the want-ads as well...
Looking for a set of factory catalytic converters for a 2004 996. P/Ns are:
996 113 021 53
and
996 113 022 53.
I'd prefer cats without track use and moderate mileage (say, less than 35k or so).
Thanks.
Not sure for what use but I hope you know that Cats are warranty for 8 years. So if you need a replacement, just go to your dealer and they will do it for no charge. I just did both of mine recently and I have an 02.
3 pages attached - first page shows the part numbers you listed - last page shows the part numbers for the M96.03 which I believe is the engine model in the 40 jahre - at least it is in mine.
Thanks to everyone for the excellent feedback. I don't have the original factory cats, but I'm looking for a pair to use on special occasions. It looks like I may have found a pair.
To those who have had to replace their cats, I'd be interested in your usage pattern. In other words, is it just high mileage? or do you track your car? or something else?
Thanks again!
My cats have # 996 113 03 stamped on them.
That probibly means the parts book has many different #s for referencing different cars.
But that part # on the cat is the part itself.. Guessing this cat fits lots of cars from 02 up.

By "special occasions" are you saying you have an emissions inspection requirement in your state?
I am on my 3rd pair as well and on one side it is all ready started rattling around back there. I am just waiting until the check engine light comes on before I bring it in. Hopefully the other one will also go so it saves me a second trip.
LOL. No, I'm totally legal and intend to stay that way (heck, my daughter even drives a hybrid).
My car will be exiting warranty in about 9 months, so I'll be doing most of the work myself, and I want a spare set of cats to experiment with different exhaust configurations.
My car has only 25k miles and has already had both cats replaced. In fact, I noticed a faint but familiar rattling noise this weekend that probably indicates another is getting ready to go. Usage is a combination of street/track.
