Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Man what a difference! I just upgraded from a 98 Boxster to a 2000 996 Cabrio. All of my previous experiences with the 911 line was from the early 80's. That is why I started with the Boxster. Its a great car that can be driven @ its 99% level any time, any where. Imagine my suprise when I stepped into my new 996 and stomped on the gas! Then, those twisties. I found myself carrying 10mph more through the turns. So here is my apology for saying 'Why would you want to pay 30-50k more for the 996......' What a load of crap. So very sorry.

POST 2Original post

Congrats on your new car , enjoy it ! You can push very far the limits of this car... so then ...be carefull!

POST 3Original post

Well, I hope you have learned your lesson. I really like the boxsters, I'm just to big to fit in one.

POST 4Original post

Congrats and enjoy! I also made a move up from a 2.5ltr Boxster to a '99 C2 Cab. Like day & night interms of performance and handling if not looks! No complaints. C2 Cab corners exceedingly well - and has lots more power offcourse. IMHO does demand more respect compared to Boxster.

POST 5Original post

Thats exactly why I went right for the 996. Especially comming from a 91 928GT with 330hp, I wouldnt have been happy with a Boxster.

I understand the differences very well, I was looking for personal experience. Thanks,

POST 7Original post

Congratulations on your new 996! I too have been enjoying an 01 Boxter for the past 11 months and I have just put in my order for an 02 C2 Cab to replace it. I'm probably looking at end May - June delivery & I will supply photos of 996 at that time. Thanks to discussions read from this board I have ordered a B&M Short Shift Linkage & I am considering a Fabspeed Exhaust for the new vehicle. I had a 72 911 Targa & a 90 C2 Coupe & look forward to getting another more modern rendition of the 911. Wishing you all the best of luck with the new car!

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

My experience with the 996 just got better! After a little bit of break in (my driving that is...) and a proper set-up, I feel much more comfortable behind the wheel. At first I really scared myself. The car felt really on edge. Turns out that the dealer over-inflated the tires. The front were @ 45 and the rears @48, with COLD tires. I set them @ 36. The car demostrates a lot more of feel through the turns. Also, the same dealer put too much oil in. All bars were showing at start up. After removing a can or two worth of oil, it is now has two bars to spare. The car feels much smother and rev's much easier.

[quote]Originally posted by dhof: 36 Front and 44 Rear on 18" rims.

I have 17" for now. Future upgrade. Do the 18" rims fill out the wheel well more?

POST 11Original post

Ill just add my 2 cents worth but have you ever driven a 3.4ltr boxster like the ruf 3400s absolutely unbelievable A true drivers car.
