Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I have a very good friend that we installed a B&M on his car it was very nice as well but fixed at 40% reduction.

I think nething more then 40% reduction maybe a bit too close betwwen shifts so if you plan to use RUF or similar try the lower one first.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I installed the RUF short shift kit this week. It is really nice and you can choose between 30,40, and 50% reduction. I have a very good friend that we installed a B&M on his car it was very nice as well but fixed at 40% reduction. The RUF installs under the car at the gear box and B&M is inside the car at the shifter. They are both about $300.
In both cases yes. On my car we backed it up on ramps and did it from under the car. The RUF kit requires a Torx socket drive T55 size that we bought from Sears for $2.99. The B&M you can do from the driver or passenger seat of the car. With the B&M you need to mark where the cables are lined up before you take things apart. The instructions tell you to but they don't put much emphasis on it. If you don't feel comfortable either one could be installed in less than an hour at a shop.
Is the RUF kit similar to the TechArt one? The TechArt kit goes for $600 and also installs under the car.
I have heard the B&M kit requires increased effort to shift, the Techart one does not. Does the RUF?
I have had my B&M in mine for almost 1 year now. Love it. Would do it again in a heatbeat. Can't compare to the others since I have not tried them but B&M products are awesome.
If you ask this same question on the other 996 boards, you will see that B&M seems to be the preference.
I put the RUF at 40% reduction and don't notice much extra effort. I would say slightly more than stock. The Ruf kit is terribly simple. It is a new bracket that the shift cables mount to and a beautiful anodized plate that the lower cable ball mounts too. It's probably about $100 worth of machined parts and the rest engineering cost and name. I think it was worth what it cost but certainly not $600 if the Techart is similiar.
I have the B&M shifter and its best bang for the buck. I see reduction of about 30%. I use to misshift on the stock shifter but not nemore. I think nething more then 40% reduction maybe a bit too close betwwen shifts so if you plan to use RUF or similar try the lower one first. Looks like the RUF/Techart is simpler to install. I had mine installed professionally. Regards. Mike
I didn't buy one yet, but there is a company called stefania corp. that carries Ruf products. They are located in New Jersey.
