Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Suggestion
In the current issue of the British magazine 911 & Porsche World, there is an article on just this problem with respect to Boxters and the author recommends using a hair dryer on the plastic rear window, but specifically NOT something really hot like a heating gun for stripping paint.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

My 01 996 cab was spun over curb by previous owner, cracking the engine block and popping the roll over system. Engine replacement no problem. But the roll bars have stretched the rear window. Questions: Can this be heated/cooled back to reasonable appearance? Can window be replaced at reasonable cost? Or should whole top be changed? Do I need a new "module" to regulate the roll bar system? I have been astonished at how many parts are available from dismantlers/e-bay. I've joined Rennlist, although I don't think it shows yet. Thanks for the help. This is one GREAT asset for Porsche owners.
I was at the dealership this past weekend talking to the service guys about my top. While it is not in horrible shape, ther are a few scratches and dings. They said I should hold out 'till it is a little more worn and to replace it with a new top. If you order it through Porsche, you should be able to get the new top with a glass rear window! There may be extra cost associated with getting the defroster working, but well worth having something solid back there.
Thanks guys. Boy that would be great to be able to have a glass unit back there. But given the way the 996 folds up, that might get a little tricky. I got a line today on a complete top unit (new) with (hopefully) a good back window for $225. Seems like an awfully good price, although I don't know what the labor to install it will be like. I understand the new top has to be stitched on.
Talked today to an interior/top repair place. The guy says that he's had success on BMW windows that have undergone the same roll bar stress and that he may be able to heat/cool it back into reasonable shape. I'll let you all know how it turns out. I still may buy that complete top for $225, just in case mine gets knifed. It's not always too safe for good cars around these parts.

Thanks for the reference. And there's even a chance I can get that magazine at this incredible newstand around 21st and Park Ave. in Manhattan. They carry a lot of the English automotive magazines. With
a wife and two daughters in the house, I know where I can find a hairdryer or two.
